Janet Reno and Gonzalez provide ample evidence for the argument that the US attorney general should always come from an opposing political party from the president's. 8/27/2007 10:31:46 AM |

Yes, if you're a federal attorney at the service to the president, you can't be fired for any reason ever. 8/27/2007 12:09:49 PM |

If Gonzales--the first Latino attorney general in US history--had been a Democrat, the liberals on the Hill and elsewhere would have done anything to save him and they would have called any attempt to oust him racist. Believe it.
And, yes, I do believe the misspelling of Gonzales' name is a subtle form of racism. 8/27/2007 11:55:43 PM |

drunknloaded's misspelling something isn't a subtle sign of anything except his barely functional grip on the English language. 8/28/2007 12:21:25 AM |

I doubt it. Gonzalez's bullshit was so thick, that there weren't even any Republicans willing to defend him in his last days.
If things were turned, I don't think any democrats would have rushed to defend him either.8/28/2007 1:41:11 AM |

not really. Republicans just want to distance themselves from an unpopular president, whether the president's policies are right or wrong. It's typical in our partisan atmosphere.8/28/2007 6:52:45 AM |
