Ambassadors to hold rally tonight
'To excite everyone for Saturday's game,' a pep rally will take place on Harris Field

PrintEmail DoubleClick Any Word Page 1 of 1 Head coach of men's football Tom O'Brien and some of the football players will have the stage at tonight's pep rally at 7 p.m. on Harris Field.

"Just about everyone loves football, so plenty of people will be pumped up for our first game," Zach Adams, senior class president, said.

According to Adams, a senior in industrial engineering, the band, the dance team and the cheerleading team will perform to "get the crowd excited for the Wolfpack feast of the Golden Knights."

"It's been a while since we've had a big pep rally, and it's a chance to make a new tradition at N.C. State," he said.

Brittney Eaves, traditions committee chair of the Alumni Association Ambassadors program, is organizing the rally along with Adams.

She said the idea for the rally was something they tossed around last year.

"Hopefully, it works out for us this year, and we'll have bigger ones to come," Eaves, a senior in biological sciences, said.

Although Adams said not much publicizing was done for the event, he hopes a crowd of at least 400 will show up.

Eaves said the ambassadors mostly advertised through word-of-mouth, at Convocation and at tonight's STAT Pig Pickin' before the rally.

She said she hopes the rally "kind of has that high-school [pep-rally] feel, but on a much bigger level."

Adams and Eaves will emcee the event, which is expected to last about half an hour.

"We want to get everyone out there and pumped for Saturday's game," Eaves said

while this just came up.... it's an awesome idea, if you live on campus... or near campus and want to come by for the pep rally, come on out!!

They are planning a similar event for the Clemson game also.... Make this one a success so that the bigger games get bigger pep rally's.... cause you know we need some more normal traditions.

Maybe they're canning the tradition of canning traditions. But then, they would be canning another tradition, so I guess they're still doing it.

it was cool. nothing exceptional but it was well worth it just to see tob and have the crowd chant "tom o'brien!" *clap clap clap clap clap* and get a lil more pumped for the game saturday (as if thats even possible)

there were probably a few hundred people there. more than i expected since there was no publicity.

tob just spoke for a couple minutes...typical we need you guys to show up and be loud saturday be the twelth man and all that...and he talked a lil about central florida...about how he and o'leary go way back and he said something along the lines along of "and no, there is no truth to the rumor that o'leary and i are having a competition at halftime to see who can down the most guinness." it got a good laugh.

martrel brown, marcus stone, and dunlap were there as well, and brown spoke for like 30 seconds.

definitely more people than i expected but i wasnt uber-packed. i'm terrible at estimating large crowds but i'd guess 300-400.
