I have it now, at first it hurt when i walked but i could walk fine
then i began to limp from the pain
now the pain is less, but between my achilles tendon and calf muscle feels really tight and i can barely push off to walk.
i'm taking ibuprofen like the doctor said, and icing it regularly....
any advice? 8/30/2007 9:19:40 PM |

I did when I was running alot....it took me months to get right. Don't try to come back to early like I did or you will mess it up again.... Good Luck 8/30/2007 9:23:42 PM |

I've had that before, and it hurt like hell. I couldn't planter flex my feet without a sharp pain coming up my calf. Mine went away eventually, but I'll never forget how unpleasant that was. 8/30/2007 9:45:23 PM |

I had it bad in highschool when i was on the tennis team. Spent almost the whole season on the bench because of it. Had to go to physical therapy during each practice to get it back to normal. Could barely walk. It was all because of the shoes i was wearing. they were a pair of old tennis shoes that had a really worn out sole. I didn't take any pain meds for it and as far as excersises i forgot what they were 8/30/2007 9:45:28 PM |

^^^^ i don't recall, it was 2 years ago, but the motrin did help the pain, as did the stretching. it will take some weeks, i guess, but back to normal eventually. you gotta not recreate the cause, though, that's the most important part.

i had it happen in high school i used one of those thick stretchy rubber band things to wrap around my foot and flexed and pointed my foot eventually my range of motion improved (and of course they gave me some ibuprofen)
i had problems for a while even after my achilles tendon got better because i put so much pressure on my heel when i walked since i couldn't walk normally 8/30/2007 11:23:27 PM |

stretch your gastroc and soleus muscles. if it doesn't get any better i'd recommend physical therapy, where they can do ultrasound/iontophoresis and knock it out pretty quickly

I had it from sports a while back. Rest, stretching, and icing is the best bet. My trainer gave me some ultrasound treatment too but that's prob. too expensive of an option. Get some little paper dixie cups and fill them with water and freeze them then tear off the end and rub it all over your achilles instead of just putting ice on it. That's what i was told to do and it seemed to help a lot. 8/31/2007 1:27:12 PM |
