Comes out at the end of this month.
I got to watch it a few weeks ago and it was pretty good. Anyone else catch the sneak preview?

The audience was cheering and clapping towards the end. But at the very end it gets all "humans are pathetic and will never learn to co-exist" preachy...which I liked.

It's directed by Peter Berg (actor in tons of movies, recently Smokin Aces...and he directed Friday Night Lights)

Stars
Jamie Foxx
Jennifer Garner
Jason Bateman
Jeremy Piven (has part wasn't really that big)

Just saw the sneak preview at Witherspoon, and it was fucking awesome. There was a lot of applause and cheering toward the end at ours too, and I thought it was a very shocking and brutally realistic, fair look into such a heated topic as Islamic extremism and the cultural schism between the east and west held together by money and oil.

I heard that even Jennifer Garner was able to portray a character of value.

Amazing.

I saw this a few weeks ago at the Raleigh Grande and was not impressed. It's a good-looking movie, but it tries to be both a social commentary piece and a mindless shoot-em-up at the same time and the combination is weird.

I guess they felt, in this age of Political Correctness, that they had to make sure they made it well known that there are good Saudis, too, so the movie wasn't just a few Americans killing the hell out of a bunch of evil Saudi terrorists. It kind of makes me miss the good ole days where they just shot the fuck out of all of them and no one cared if there were good guys there, too, so long as they killed the hordes of bad guys.

Also, it felt like it wanted to be "Three Kings" - many of the same tones, themes, juxtapositions. It felt so similar, in fact, that by the time "The Kingdom" ended I really wished that I had just sat at home and watched "Three Kings" instead, because it's so much better.

yeah now that I think about it there were a lot of loose ends and clues that never got followed up on, but I love a good shoot em up and I liked the fact that they tried to make it a little more than just a mindless action/suspense movie. Never seen Three Kings so I couldn't compare that...

You know that part in the commercial where jamie foxx is saying something dramatic and tense?

I don't understand one word of it.
