this is weird....i had my cable modem box/router (Earthlink through Time Warner) in my office for awhile...about a week ago i moved the setup to my family room....

yesterday i moved it back to the office again and it's not working in the office outlet anymore....but if i move it back to the family room it works again

i didn't think the internet connection was tied to particular coax outlets......it seems like it's just tied to the family room outlet now.....

i called TWC and they are sending some technician out but i think it's something simpler than that, like TWC needs to reset something on their end..

which outlet you hooked up to shouldn't matter in the least.

You may have borked the connector on the wall plate in your office while detaching the cable (unlikely).

Or you might have a weaker signal in there (and it might take longer for the modem to pick up a useable signal).

That's all I've got.

i didn't think the outlet mattered but i wasn't sure if TWC can lock into an outlet on their end ...... my only guess is also the weak signal, but it befuddles me that it worked before
