There has been a discussion in the mod forum for some time regarding promoting bars and buying ads - for now it's been decided that this thread will now be the one where you can discuss different bars

maybe this is a bad decision and we'll see how it goes and possibly change things accordingly

if you want to promote your bar - buy an ad - if you want to discuss how much one is great or it sucks - feel free to post here

i like the individual threads for bars. then i can go through and see the updates for that particular bar. better than wading through pages of some stupid drama that happened at ATC or some drunk girl at Ess Lounge.

I dont think the lounge should be clogged with weekly threads stating "toejam and bellybutton lint" @ the shithole NO COVER!!! (fine for chitchat) But one thread per bar should be reasonable.

I too am with Cass on this one. Individual bar threads will keep people from posting random advertisements in seperate threads and will be much easier to navigate than one catch-all thread such as this.

because

a. youd be moderating and locking threads non-stop

b. the search function isnt that good

3. stuff overlaps sections and is frequently posted in both

d. lots of times there are 2 threads about similar but different things

e. anything posted in chit chat shouldnt matter period - its chit chat, youve got the lounge for serious stuff and chit chat for wasted thread upon worthless thread

stickies, imo, are long overdue on this site. i suggested them for a general traffic ticket/legal help/referral thread a long time ago.

i'd say make a nightlife section...but when you're trying to promote a band at a bar, i think it should go in entertainment. but not everyone checks entertainment, sowhatdyado?

Sure I told everyone what we had going on as far as events and specials go... but as far as I'm concerned... saving y'all $ when you go out isn't a bad thing. Sorry I tried to be the nice girl. I told my boss months ago we should buy an ad to please everyone preaching to buy an ad to show we're not tool bags and actually love supporting NCSU student interests... but I don't write the checks and it got pushed to his back-burner.

Oh, and the majority of all of my posts in the Buckhead thread were only to clarify and to explain any questions people had...
