It was the start of a new movement in music, kicking off Factory Records and influencing countless bands. Plus he died at the height of his career, making for great cinema. Sid had his own movie why not Ian?

Sid didnt deserve a movie either. He was a hack junkie with no talent. Dood was a waste of flesh.

i agree that sid did not. Ian, while youre possible right definitely at least has more cred to a movie than sid

Sid's movie wasn't really about the music tho...could have been Requiem for a Dream, the prequel.

it was good.

go see it

oh and apparently all of the live music was played by the actors and from what I could tell it was. It sounded great. They should go on tour b/c i would go.

awesome. at least you didn't say it's a disappointment. as for a reunion tour, i seriously doubt peter hook would be on board. but if the movie gets enough acclaim he might change his mind.

^^ it was a joke.

I look down on this movie solely because it's going to inspire a whole new load of bad covers of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and "Blue Monday."

ha. i'm kinda with you on that now. i wanted it to get big just so i could see it. now that i've seen it i want it to stay small so i don't hear daughtry covering transmission or see target replicating unknown pleasures shirts.

Opening Friday at Galaxy Cinema. Showtimes are 1:15, 4:00, 7:10, and 9:40.

I really hope some people come out and see it...it's totally bombed nationwide, even by the standards of an independent movie. If people don't come see it, it might end up being a one or two week kinda thing.

I really liked the harsh contrasts with the black and white in the vein of old Joy Division footage and photos and there were a few good bits of acting but overall the dialog felt flat. I guess I was expecting Ian to be larger than life but in the movie he was a child caught up in the consequences of his own decisions and stupidity like so many kids today. Kept feeling like the Ian on the screen was not the Ian that gave us so many insightful songs. I really need to read that Deborah Curtis book before I watch this again.

That's pretty funny, actually. I read that she was a producer and wrote the book the movie is based on. Good to know she's honest, I guess.
