I have some left over Clarinex from when I had a sinus infection a couple months back. Sometimes I take it to knock me out if I want to get a lot of sleep.

The thing is I have insanely vivid dreams that are usually kind of neat. I usually don't remember my dreams at all but I can remember details about them when I take this stuff. I had a nightmare last night and it was crazy. I almost kind of want to take it every night to see where it takes me.

Does this happen to anyone else?

this usually happens to me when I wake up in the morning, stay awake for about an hour, and then lay back down to get a couple extra hours of sleep

the extra couple hours of sleep is when I get the crazy dreams

I love when my dreams go slow-mo just as something very bad is about to happen for me

Like when I'm being chased and the faster I try to run the slower I go or trying to jump with snakes biting at my feet

I had a dream where I was always starving, but everytime I ate something I would get Downs Syndrome for like 15 minutes. So I ate all my my meals in private and it wasn't so bad. But then somehow I forgot and entered a hot dog eating contest and everyone saw me as retarded and it was really embarrasing.

this usually happens to me at a critical point in the dream, be it screaming or making a choice or something

i seem to always get them when i'm taking strong sinus medication - i wonder if it is caused by the medicine or just the fact that i am in deep sleep

i think it is the later

i had a dream about this girl from high school who i don't talk to anymore - she got married 2 months ago

i can't believe i still dream about this girl, the fact that it was so vivid is like i really did hang out with her again

I usually have vivid/intense dreams normally, but when I take diphenhydramine, they become insanely intense and life-like.

Most of them turn out to be fast-paced, and most involve me being hunted/chased by people who want to kill me, and sometimes I am able to fight back and injure/kill them.

And they feel so real that they disturb my whole day after I wake up.

when you fight back that is what they call a lucid dream

i was reading about it earlier and it said something like only 10% of people can realize they are dreaming and take control of it

i'm pretty sure i've done that before

some people lucid dream naturally

but anyone can gain the ability to lucid dream if you do things like

- writing down your dreams
- Reality Checks (ask yourself if you are dreaming, then try to put your finger through a solid object to make sure you arent dreaming, if you do it enough during the day you will probably do it during a dream and this should make you realize you are dreaming, because your finger will go through the object when you are dreaming)

But in dreams we are able to pick up things, grab things, fight with people, etc. So how do you reconcile that with what you said?

Or are you saying that if in your dream, you actually think about it and ask yourself before you touch something, then your finger will go through? And if you just carry on as normal without any thought, then you can hold on to objects and grip them?

I've had quite a few lucid dreams. One of my favorite things to do is make myself fly. It's like being Neo. Sometimes I'll start to wake up and force myself to stay asleep so I can keep the dream going.

I had a crazy dream last night where I was on this small island, where the only building was a old shack full of fishing tackle and hunting supplies. I had stumbled upon a swarm of zombies and zombie dogs that were chasing me and had me cornered. Then I woke up.

Back when I was a smoker, I tried this one time to quit smoking by using the Patch. I did not know this at the time, but nicotine patches can cause you to have some alarmingly vivid dreams that can be difficult to separate from reality. I only went to bed wearing one once because my dreams freaked me out. Then I went and read the entire damned box and found the warning on it about vivid dreams. I know of several other people who've had the same result using the Patch.

HOLY SHIT

My new favorite food/drug!!!!

Do you need a doctor's prescription to get the patches, or are they OTC??? I am gonna pick up a month's supply!

Same here. Although I want to learn lucid dreaming... I am just lazy when it comes to it, as my dreams are intensely vivid (THANK GOD), and have even had a few lucid dreams in the past year, some even induced by my will power.

it really is one of the coolest things i have experienced

you can remember your dreams if you make them important to you IE if you make an effort to remember them and write them down

as for the finger through the wall thing

the laws dont apply in dreams(most of the time and its a reassurance that I am dreaming

What happens with me is Im asleep& dreaming if i get conscious enough to question the dream(this is the part where i either turn lucid or stay unconscious) I use the finger through the wall check to make sure Im not awake ( because sometimes the dreams feel so real that Im scared to do something I would do in a dream like jumping off a building to fly)

Vivid dreams are awesome, especially when you wake up and think what happened in your dream was real. This sucks for nightmares though. I had a dream my mother died and it was very real feeling, so real that when I woke up I called her to make sure everything was ok.

Then there's the omg I had a dream I slept iwth my boss this is awkward when I see him...

yeah, I woke up this morning and went back to sleep. After I went back to sleep, I had a really vivid dream I was crossing Hillsborough street with my little sister. The light was red, but this car didn't stop, and I made sure that it would hit me before my sister. The car barely touched me, I glared at the driver, saw the woman's face, and then as we walked away the crazy lady tried to run us over. We ran to the sidewalk and were safe after that.

It seemed so real, and I can still imagine the woman's face, thats really scary.

I started taking a multivitamin recently, and noticed by dreams have become much more vivid. which is pretty cool, since I didn't really remember them before, and my dreams are pretty nuts, compared to my waking demeanor. it's like seeing a side of myself I didn't know existed.

I figured it was the B12 or B6 in there though.

i know that if i try to sleep for too long, i'll have lucid dreams, some drugs i've taken seem to have caused it too; very rarely do i have nightmares or anything like that though

[Edited on October 7, 2007 at 1:10 AM. Reason : ^when i was a kid that happened a lot, the same dream over and over and then deja vu]
