^^ yeah, that's my take. i wouldn't even be a dick about it--i'd just explain to the teacher, then to the principal, etc, that this is completely ridiculous, and if you feel the need to suspend me for it, then go ahead...that I'm not trying to be an asshole, but I'm not taking the shirt off.

They make stupid knee-jerk policies like that to avoid having to make any actual decisions or use any sort of actual judgement...but all it takes it one person to simply refuse to comply, and they're in an even worse predicament.

This is fucking pathetic.

The next thing will be some hard right politician scoring some major political points by drawing up a law/ordinance stripping the school of the right to ban American flags. Then the ACLU suit in quick succession because the school is showing preference to certain flags.

At the end of the day the whole thing will be a worthless waste of time and resources because the school decided to delve in to territory it never should have fucked with.

yep. as far as i'm concerned, you oughta be able to wear whatever flag you want on your shirt to school...other than maybe something like a swastika, which would just be overly disruptive.

but shit, if nothing else, you oughta be able to wear an American flag.

who are you to say which flags are acceptable and which ones aren't? i'm sure the american flag is just as offensive to some people as the nazi flag is to others, however silly that idea may be to you or me.

My guess is that spanish people were wearing spanish flags, and they banned all flags so as not to seem racist, banking on the fact that Americans don't really wear flag clothes.

Sounds like idiocy all around though. I don't see why ANY flag should be banned in the first place.

The vast majority of the poll takers though seem to think that ONLY the American flag should be allowed.
