This is a general rant. why cant some of you pick up your piles of beer cans and other garbage and throw them into the garbage cans that are all over the place? its pathetic. Those of you that leave those piles are worthless, and as much as I dislike a lot of police enforcement, I'd love for everyone that leaves those piles to be fined the maximum allowed. Everyone is bitching about the tailgate policies, but the inability for you even to do something as simple as clean up after yourself doesnt inspire the administration to give you much leadway. I couldnt count the number of piles of shit that were within an arms throw of a garbage can.

CLEAN YOUR SHIT UP AFTER YOU'RE DONE.

What I would personally like done is for every clean Saturday (not much garbage thrown around), the next week's tailgate time is extended, but for those saturdays that people leave trash all over the place, tailgating is reduced. Then maybe the assholes that litter will have the shit beat out of them a few times by the angry mob that doesnt want to lose tailgate time, and those worthless littering shitbags will actually pick up their stuff.

I didn't read all of your opening statement, but I just want to say that my wife and I have compiled pictures of before and after's of frats (because its mainly them). I can post them when I get home today. Its disgusting what they were leaving last year. Haven't paid attention to it this year.

frats may contribute, but its much more then just them....they simply dont have the presence at state to be the major contributor of this problem. i agree that this is a disgrace, and I am all for something being done about it.

frats just stand out more than anyone because they take so much room (this isn't a problem) and then leave twice as much as most. I've even seen them leaving furniture behind.

As much as I like to hate on the frats, it's not just them. They naturally having the biggest parties so the biggest trash piles are by their areas, but there is trash everywhere in the student lots and not just the frat areas.

To the OP [agreed]. It is disgusting.

i'm sick of walking up to a post-tailgate site also and seeing all the frat trash...there are always dozens of empty plastic bags from that day's disposable croakies...and all those empty boxes of starch (gotta keep the collars popped yo)...but the worst is all the dead grass from where they use all the pink dye on their white polos

unfortunately, most fans just can't be counted on to keep their trash in check...

probably wouldn't be solved until NCSU and the fairgrounds put out a large amount of trashcans... which is sad, it shouldn't be their responsibility to keep the grounds clean..

unless things have changed since i was in school, there were always plenty of trashcans around the fairgrounds. i never had to walk more then 5 or 6 cars over to find one. some of them did overflow, but i would just leave my trashbag next to it then.

if its any conciliation, other schools are just as disgusting too. (atleast the places ive been).

Sorry, but there are not "garbage cans that are all over the place." That having been said, it takes minimal effort to bring your on trash bag and leave it on the ground/at your bumper. This is the best realistic plan, and really cuts down on trash collection and visual clutter. Most people seem to do this everywhere but the fairgrounds lot.

I was in the lots by trinity. There were cans about every 20-30 feet (barrels). There was trash all over the place, but not too much in the cans.

i don't remember them when i was there, but i haven't been tailgating in a few years so thats' probably not a big surprise...

if so... then these fuckers are just lazy and if there was a good way to penalize them for it (revoking future parking privileges for season ticket holders... revoking future ticket privileges for students) then that might help

i fully support this thread

its absolutely disgusting walking through the lots after games

we bring a couple of trash bags for every game and have even handed out a few to people who didnt have any

people who litter like that are spoiled fucking brats who should have their tailgating rights revoked

to be fair . . . some people do atleast put their empty cans in a pile . . . until some dickwad walks through after the game and kicks the pile to spread it all out.

The fairgrounds is a fricken disaster area after each and every game and has been for years. Some dumbass on packpride was like "well, they have people who come clean it up plus there aren't enough trash cans." That's not the fucking point. Bring trash bags and take the shit back with you if you have to.

i remember carrying my trash bag halfway around the RBC Center last year looking for a trash can before a cop said I was to just leave it on the grass and someone would pick it up later. What the fuck? Can't they put trash cans out there?

Well, I dont mind people putting their garbage in a BAG and leaving it at their spot. In some cases, I would prefer this. It means that the people that dont have bags actually can place their items in the drums, and the trash bags are easily picked up with the other drums. Piling your shit in one spot where people have to pick up 50 beer cans is PATHETIC.

Perhaps I should have been more specific. There are trashcans every 20-30 feet in the fairgrounds lot. I never really noticed whether there are trashcans or not in the general public lots. I also never really noticed an unbelievable amount of trash all over the ground either in those lots.

The only reason why I noticed in the student lots was because I walked through it and thought how fucking disgusting it all was. Then I thought, well, these are educated people... maybe the trashcans are all full.. and I looked around expecting to see overflowing trashcans with trash all around them. The thing is, a bunch of them were still nearly empty with trash all over the ground spread out in the lot.

I would highly support revoking/adding tailgating hours for keeping the lots relatively clean. A little peer pressure never hurt anything.

I couldn't agree more that trash at tailgates is a big problem....

but to say it's mostly frats is absolutely ridiculous and shows your personal bias. frats may litter, but so does johnny q. everyman and there are sure as hell a lot more johnny q.'s than there are frat boys.

i'd hope you and your wife would have better things to do than go around and photo tailgate spots vacated by fraternities. Or there may be some vendetta there, I don't know

im workin on this

tryin to get it where you have assigned parking in the tailgating lots, obviously the sooner you get your pass the better your spot

but anyways you put a name down on the parking pass and when/if you leave it trashed you get your parking privileges revoked for the rest of the year, should cut down on it some.

Because it looks like shit, that's why. Have some self-respect. Using that same logic, everyone should just throw all their shit out the window whilst driving down the road. No big deal, right?

^^^ok that is the WORST fucking idea EVER. how the fuck are big groups of people supposed to park near each other to tailgate???? sometimes people like to PICK OUT their spots.

^it is always going to be a mess where people tailgate. that is why they have crews to pick up afterwards. no big deal.

ill tell you how they do this.

the fucking police ticket for littering. All they have to do is stand out there after the games, and write tickets. It would stop this shit dead in their tracks in a single weekend.

no because the road doesn't have people to clean it after every use like the tailgate spots, movie theatres, stadium seats, airplanes, and every other thing like that.

i'm not condoning littering, and yes people should think a little more and be a little more conscious about it. But hell come on, its clean every week when you come to tailgate isn't it?

you should clean up your shit in all of those places too. They only have people do do those things because it is good for business. No one would want to go to the movie theater if it was full of garbage when you go in. There should be no reason to have to have people to clean up after you. Society is just a bunch of lazy disgusting slobs.

The grounds crew on campus picks up random litter . . . does that mean everyone should start dropping their trash wherever they are standing?

I am by no means a tree-hugger, but this is more about having pride in yourself. Clean up your shit, its not hard. I have forgot trashbags before, but if you walk around and ask around, you will find somebody who has an extra (give them a beer for one) or just use your beer box. I look around after a game and it looks like we are classless
