Time Warner Cable will soon be adding the HD Channels of some of the best programming on television today. On October 1, HD subscribers will get TBS HD (channel 282). And on October 15, Versus/Golf HD (channel 283) and A&E HD (channel 284) will be added to the the HD channel lineup.

it's a shame because i'd like to see like science hd or some of those other ones than these

Vs actually has a ton of live sports hd programming other than just golf.

I've had it on comcast since i've moved up here...

(IIRC, last season, before the NFL channel had their HD channel up, VSHD showed the NFL channel broadcasted games in HD)

TWC should stick with the HD they have and make it cost less than an arm and a leg. Actually, they should provide more HD and make it cheaper.

according to this article, they are adding more channels than just TBS HD, Vs/Golf HD and A&E HD, at least in the Greensboro area: http://www.journalnow.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WSJ/MGArticle/WSJ_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1173352822091

"Then on Oct. 15, a wider expansion will take place, with the addition of WMYV Channel 48, the local MyNetworkTV affiliate, on Channel 531, and the cable channels A&E HD, MTV HD, History Channel HD, CNN HD, Lifetime Movies HD, Food Network HD, Golf Channel/Versus HD, and Universal HD.

MTV HD, finally I can watch some HD music videos

I believe MOJO is the channel you are thinking of, the one that shows the same 4 concerts over and over as well as the same crappy videos at 3 in the morning. The article lists MOJO along with HDNet and HDNet movies as already being offered so MTV HD is probably exactly what it says it is, MTV but in HD. CNN HD and History Channel HD are listed as being added Oct 15 so hopefully we'll get them too. I totally agree with you and would rather have National Geographic HD and Science channel HD than some of this other stuff. I'd also add Discovery Channel HD, not the theater channel, for Myth Busters.

Most of the acronyms are channel names, and that's not unusual. I mean who calls ABC the American Broadcasting Company? Or CNN the Cable News Network?

my bad on the channel..don't watch those channels much except for three sheets so I get them mixed up.

I never said that they were being added to raleigh twc, just wanted to point out that they're being added to the greensboro area at the same time as we're getting some of the same channels in Raleigh. I'm hoping they'll be added too, but I'm not holding my breath. Damn my directionally impared apartment, otherwise I'd go Dish.

^Yeah the real issue was the 5 people who came over to watch it. That and the whole paying lots of money for a service I can't use, while they refuse to prorate my bill for the roughly 2 weeks without useable HD cable service.

Off topic, but a quick question that is bugging me...

You know the TimeWarner Cable HD on Demand movies? What resolution are they streaming in at? They used to look like ass, but I swear one we rented last night looked like it was full 1080p.

Is that even possible?

I know nothing about HD formats etc. But they had a 1080p television set, and from what I could tell it didn't look like there was any upscaling.

So....excuse my ignorance.

^^^ FSN is in HD on mojo when they are broadcasting an HD event. I've seen Canes games on Mojo a couple of times but only when it's produced in HD (not all the games on FSN are HD).. I also saw the Stanford-USC game on there once as well. I think they open the channel up during these times as well (I don't subscribe to the HD package)

catalyst...i dont think twc can stream 1080p stuff to you even if your tv can handle it, the cable boxes dont receive any 1080p signals because there's no channels out there being broadcast in 1080p anyways, so i dont think thats possible

they probably look better because they are actually using hd formats instead of taking like non-hd recordings and upconverting or something? like older movies?

if an old movie has been transferred to HD, it should be just as good as a new movie because it is (most likely) being transferred from film to HD -- which is usually exactly what would happen with most new movies as well.

...which they don't.

What the hell is this crap I've seen advertised about "Free On-Demand HD content" on TWC? They played an add claiming they had hundreds of on-demand hd shows that were free. Where the hell are they? I've only seen pay-per-view on-demand content from them.

^I thought the ad said hundreds of free HD shows, not hundreds of free HD on demand shows. I assume they are refering to no additional charge for basic HD programing.

There is a USA-HD (as well as Speed-HD as of next month)...available on DirecTV. Seriously doubt Raw will show up on UniversalHD at all.

As far as wrestling, Smackdown is supposed to go HD as well and will be available on The CW (assuming our local affiliate gets the memo).

They used to have free HD on demand stuff, but usually crap like stuff that had aired on TNT recently (commercial filled Lord of the Rings, The Closer, etc).
