My mom and sister are coming up on Sunday to go out to breakfast. I don't want to take them to an IHOP or Wafflehouse or anything like that. Are there any places that serve great breakfasts around NCSU/Cary/Garner area?

NOFO is pretty good.

Did you mean Finch's? I hear their food is better than you'd expect. I have not been brave enough to try them.

Finch's off of Peace Street in downtown Raleigh is good if you don't mind the small diner feel. It's near Comedy Workx.

You would be correct, and their prices are low. Cash money only though. They don't take plastic or checks.

Seriously, Pam's > Farmer's Market WITH THE EXCEPTION of the fact that the biscuits at the FM are better.

Basically, since the previous owner(asian family) sold it to Gypsy it has gone downhill.

Vin is excellent, but I'm pretty sure they only serve brunch on Sundays.

It's also extremely expensive.

And yes, I'm an idiot, I mean't Finch's.

Briggs was my favorite when I lived in NC. it was healthy and clean too. when I felt like being grimmy I went to waffle house. in most areas that are nicer and people aren't fat there aren't many waffle houses around. it's a delicacy.

518 West also serves an excellent Sunday brunch... mmm, so good. I hear Hibernian has a good brunch as well, but I don't know much about it. You can also get Sunday buffet brunch at either Michael Dean's or Bogart's

I can't seem to find many that are actually open Sunday morning. Its gotta be breakfast, not brunch since it will be 9:30.

^I like Elmo's but its too far from here

^^^^i think the new one is in the shopping center that's on the corner of falls of neuse and durant. where the kohls is. i haven't been there yet either, i always go to the one on six forks right before you get to wake forest.

there's better places, but i think it's pretty damn hard to beat for the $$.

#1. Farmers Market Restaurant (we're regulars there)
#2. Pam's Farmhouse (Pam used to work at the Farmer's Market restaurant)
#3. Courtneys

Pam's Farmhouse is closed on Sundays and only open till noon on Saturdays

try to get to the Farmer's Market before 1. There is sometimes a line that wraps around during nice weather.

Finch's is okay. kinda "odd"

it's not a place I'd take my mom to, but there's a great place on 70 near Garner called "Waffle and Pancake House." it's a real dive and the patrons/waitstaff can be kinda sketchy, but that's half the fun

I always get the pecan waffle - yum!

I was gonna go the Farmers Market but it doesn't open until 11 on Sundays

Nevermind, found on another website it opens at 8, so hopefully it does

y'all bitches don't know shit about breakfast and what's good. yeah, some of the places listed are ok but those can be had during the week. if it's any day other than sunday, Gateway is the best. on the weekend, hit up the buffet at golden corral so everyone can get what they want and however much they want.

Farmer's market is great. As has been said already, though, the line can be murder. Worth the wait though!

If you're willing to spend a little more, the Sunday brunch at Bogart's is excellent. Highly recommended.

Hot Point Cafe in North Hills is cute. It doesn't offer full table service, but it's quick, delightful, and not very expensive. ...and the weekend server is super nice.
There have been some additions to the menu, but an older version is available online at http://hotpointonline.com.

When I lived in Raleigh, at Sumter Square apartments which are towards the Cary end of town, there was some place in Cary that I went to a couple of times that I liked that I can't remember its name any more. All I can say is thank god for Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen in Chapel Hill now that I live here. I can wake up at 1:50 in the afternoon, stumble out of the house, and get the best biscuits in town in a drive through while still wearing my pj’s. (I did this last sunday... before realizing I was supposed to be at my mothers new house in Cary )
