Ok, I read some of the old threads... you know, the ones about not needing AV... but I'm just too scared to not have any.

I'm paid up through the end of the year for McAfee but the lovely SiteAdvisor component went all to heck the last few days and it was awful so I had uninstall all McAfee programs to be able to do anything with my computer since.... should I bother reinstalling? Anyone have any helpful feedback? Should I just go with AVG Free?

Avast or AVG, anything else is a resource hog and isn't worth paying for

i got McAfee free from the University of Washington.

i dont have any real complaints. no worse than SAV.

but i personally wouldnt ever pay for either. AVG Free is all you need. Viruses are so last decade.
