computerA is 192.168.1.100
computerB is 192.168.1.101

both have "suggested ports" open and shared for TCP/UDP on a linksys cable/dsl router

can see and ping both computers from each other

both have playlist sharing enabled on itunes

what's going on here?

well, they're in the same subnet

you didn't need to open ports on your router, it's all local traffic

in fact that might be your problem, it's routing the traffic out to the intarwebs

I had to enable Filter Multicast on my linksys, it's under the security tab on the router admin page
