You guys should have known this was coming. Thank the "credit crunch" and resulting interest rate drop.
Vanguard Prime Money Market is still at 5.06%, but I expect it will be stepping down gradually as well. 9/30/2007 11:48:21 AM |

whats not liquid about a money market?
[Edited on September 30, 2007 at 12:37 PM. Reason : i guess its no "cash stashed in the shoebox in the closet" though] 9/30/2007 12:37:19 PM |

Only limitation to liquidity is that they ask that you not write checks for less than $250. There is not a minimum for ACH transfers, so I fail to see how it's different from any of these high-yield savings accounts. Where do you think they invest your money? May as well go with the lowest expense ratio. 9/30/2007 12:43:43 PM |

FDIC-insured savings account = more liquid money market = not as liquid 9/30/2007 4:59:50 PM |

Insurance has nothing to do with liquidity. It has to do with you sleeping better at night. I can access my funds just as fast by ACH transfer, or even faster by writing a check when applicable. Now explain how Emigrant Direct is more liquid. 9/30/2007 5:03:45 PM |
