Today: Rockies over Padres.
AL:
Yankees over Cleveland in 5. Sabathia is tough, but the Yankees will beat Carmona. Also, dont forget Joba Chamberlain, who will be a difference maker in tight games.
Red Sox over Angels in 4. Red Sox at home in the postseason? Very difficult to beat them. They should win the first 2, and then Beckett will finish the Angels off in game 4.
Yankees over Red Sox in 7. Another long, tough series...but this time, the Yankees have the bullpen advantage, and a better lineup 1-9. Yanks also won 10 of 18 from the sox this year.
NL:
Mets Phillies over Rockies in 5. Both these teams are hot, but the Phillies have overcome a 7 game deficit in under 3 weeks. Gotta like their momentum. Will be the best series of the playoffs.
D-Backs over Cubs in 3. This D-backs team is underrated. Brandon Webb is deadly...and this team has speed and defense. The Cubs won a weak division and I think they will be overmatched.
D-Backs over Phillies in the NLCS in 7. Would be an awesome series, and Brandon Webb 3 times is hard to beat.
World Series:
Yankees get revenge on the D-Backs in 5 games. The Yankee lineup is deadly, and they hammered the Diamondbacks in interleague play. 10/1/2007 12:33:18 PM |

Arizona got outscored this year by 20 runs. No other playoff team outscored their opposition by fewer than 62 runs (Cubs). The D-backs really overachieved this year - that doesn't matter now, but I thought it was interesting.

^^ I agree with the Rook. I think its an Indians Phillies match up in 5. Cleveland finally wins it and Philly fan dies another slow offseason.
However if the Yankees can get through Cleveland and Boston can survive LA, look out. I think you'd have to give the nod to them over any NL team.
But you could have said that about the Cards and D-backs last year and 2001, respectively. 10/1/2007 1:19:11 PM |

CUBS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my ex's dad (who lives in Chicago in the summer, Phoenix in the winter and is a die hard cubs fan) bought tickets to the d-backs vs cubs game (or the 'potential' games) last week or a couple weeks ago or whatever and they promptly (both the teams) lost almost all their games.....so since they are indeed going to play, I believe the cubs curse is broken 10/1/2007 1:26:44 PM |

Since I have no favorites in this years race....I would LOVE to see the Rockies win.
They are a very likable team as is their manager Clint Hurdle. Helton has been a good player for years and deserves some recognition and a chance at a ring. 10/1/2007 1:41:20 PM |

C'mon man stop being a total homer. You definitely have the better batting lineup 1-9 but bullpen is laughable with the exception of the one game at Fenway it was starting pitching that cost the Sox the game. Rivera is your only sure thing and the Sox can hit him thats been proven. With the Joba rules it means you won't see him every game. Bruney sucks, Viz is shakey at times and don't get me started on Farny.
My predictions
Today: Padres over the Rockies (Magic is done for the Rockies)
ALDS:
Yankees over the Indians in 4 (The Sox and Yanks owned the AL Central this season) Sox over the Rally Monkey in 4 (The halos suck on the road)
NLDS:
Phillies over the Padres in 5 Cubs over D'backs in 4
ALCS:
Sox over Yankees in another classic October battle this one will be more back and forth the Sox tak advantage of being at home and win in Game 7.
NLCS:
Cubs over Phillies in 6
World Series:
Cubs over Red Sox in 6 ending the longest championship drought in sports history.10/1/2007 2:31:40 PM |

and don't forget that 5 of the last 6 yankees wins came against the Sox without Manny in the lineup...in case you missed it, he did kinda ok after coming off the DL to close out the season 10/2/2007 1:54:51 PM |

NL:
Phillies beat Rockies in 5 Holliday didn't touch home plate!
Cubs beat Dbacks in 5 I still don't acknowledge that the Diamondbacks exist
Phillies beat Cubs in 6 Cubbies are only lovable as losers
AL:
Angels beat Red Sox in 5 I hate the Red Sox
Yankees beat Indians in 3 I hate both of these teams, end it quickly.
Angels beat Yankees in 7 Fuck the yankees
World Series:
Phillies beat Angels in 6 I'm normally an AL guy, but I have a soft spot for Philly and their friendly fans. 10/2/2007 2:14:15 PM |

And when the Yankees had all their injuries the Red Sox dominated them. Its pretty even when both teams are healthy.
The Yankees finished hot no doubt, but Joba has never pitched in October, and ARod normally disappears in October. I have little doubt that the Yankees will get past Cleveland. I mean they were 6-0 against them. Should be interesting.10/3/2007 10:17:46 AM |

^BigPapa Hey you and I are ok....no doubt both the Yanks and the Bosox finished against lower tier teams....all I was saying his good numbers when he came back were not against top notch pitching is all...
Also about the the Yankees injuries early in the year.....there is a big diff between losing one hitter (albeit a very good one) and 3/4 of your starting pitching going on the DL. In any case I have said since the beginning of the year....this is the Redsox to lose....In the 2nd season (the playoffs) it's all about pitching.....and the Redsox have it. But we will see....
P.S. You are correct Joba has never pitched in Oct.....but neither has your zillion dollar Japanese sensation.....we will see.... 10/3/2007 1:56:38 PM |

Or in back to back games but once. How is he going to react throwing 3 straight days in tense October baseball? I wouldn't count on Joba being as rock solid as he was in the regular season...
^^ b/c they don't need them. Schilling, Beckett and Dice-K are all they need for Round 1 I think given the schedule they chose.

Wakefield is having back problems. Originally they were gonna stick him in the pen for the ALDS, but they decided to let him rest his back for the possible next round.
And you can readjust your rosters for each playoff series, but the player has to be eligible for the postseason roster. Most teams carry extra positional players in the Divisional Series since its a 5 game series.
Buchholz is done for the year with arm fatigue. Which is kind of scary, may not be that bad they don't want to over pitch him this year because I have a feeling Schilling will be gone and we need someone to fill that spot between Buchholz and Lester they are the two likely in-house canidates, although would really love it if we went after Johan. 10/3/2007 2:21:25 PM |
