I can't swear in the title but it should read: Fuckers can't shit the bed any worse than 2007.

You guys can shift the trolling over to this thread if you'd like. Or just keep spamming my inbox. Either way, it's good...

Playoffs are essential or Minaya/Randolph are gone.

the nl east will be the most competitive division in baseball in 2008

i know we're a long way from opening day and there's sure to be some shakeups in the offseason, but i have no idea whether the phillies, mets, or braves will come out on top

should be exciting

with that said, the mets are gaylords

well on the bright side, theres no way you can have as big a collapse down the stretech in 2008...or can you?

it'd also be kind of funny if the phillies got swept in the first round

The NL East will be awesome next year. Best display of young hitting talent in all of baseball. The pitching will still be meh, but man look at the list of young stars:

Howard (I know he's not that young), Utley, Wright, Reyes, McCann, Franceour, Hanley Ramirez, and Cabrera are all All Star players right now. Not mention guys like Milledge, Escobar, Hermida, etc that could break out next year.

I hope the Mets suck donkey balls though...

I cant believe you requested to have the 2007 thread locked, only to then start this thread.

What a bitch move.

It's like the LOST thread, or the Panthers thread...you cant start a new one until it's actually about to start. There is plenty to talk about in regards to the 2007 season, including the fallout from the choke.

Beardawg really screwed you by saying that you requested to have it locked.

LOL.

It's one thing to create a new 2008 thread, but to ask for the 2007 one to be locked is a bit absurd.

I say the 2007 thread should be retired to the thread hall of fame .. we need a HOF for sports talk threads.

I'm pretty sure the Mets are already planning for the 2008 season, so for all intensive purposes, it has started.

Because that stuff definitely can't be discussed in this thread

I for one think NyM410 is handling this extremely well.

Why? All it's going to be is flaming in two spots. Why not centralize it here? Funny thing is, the TWW is tame compared to the shit I'm getting by the people I actually know...

That kind of collapse can (not saying it will but can) shake the core of a team. We will see what the Mets are made of....They will either rally as a team and show everyone they are worth something.....or go in the tank in 2008.....my guess is Tank city ha ha

Oh and everyone knows there is really only one team in New York

The New York Yankees !!!!!

I am a huge Mets fan from NY and all I can say is that Omar will make sure the team has a completely different look next year. Lo Duca and Green will be gone. I'm not sure if its worth the risk to pick up Glavine's option given his meltdown down the stretch. Mota, Schoeneweis, Heilman will all be gone. Delgado may be traded; however, his stock is so low at this point that it may cost us more to move him than to keep him. Pretty much look for the Mets this offseason to sign a pricey catcher and outfielder; to rebuild the entire bullpen with risky young arms and tired old vets; and to sign at least 1 high priced starting pitcher that busts.

The good news for Mets fans is that the Braves will undergo similar changes; the Marlins and Nationals still will not be good for another 3 years; and the Phillies have a lot of free agents.

This post is full of shit.

1. Glavine's option is a player's option. He will decide whether he wants to stay in Queens or not.

2. Heilman is not going anywhere unless he is traded. The Mets are not just going to get rid of him.

3. The Mets are stuck with Delgado. Enjoy another year of his overpriced bat and shitty defense.

4. What pricey catcher are you going to sign? Lo Duca will probably be back.

5. Why would you rebuild a pen with risky young stars and old vets? That is pretty much what you have (and most teams have anyway).

6. The Braves are not going to go under some major overhaul. The lineup will not change much. The only regulars that will be gone are Andruw and they may use Renteria as trade bait for SP. The staff including Smoltz, Hudson, James and most of the pen will be back for them. They are definitely going for atleast one more starter.

7. Marlins, if they can keep the team together, will be good in less than 3 years. The lineup is already solid and if Dontrelle can get back to his old form, Anibel Sanchez and Josh Johnson get healthy, Olsen gets a therapist, they will have a solid rotation. The pen still sucks, but they always have good young arms.

8. You are correct about the Nats though.

It's New York...

This honestly probably made 90% of the country's sports year. Seeing a NYC team spit the bit... I'm actually shocked at how hated the Mets are across the country. They've only been a good organization for the last 3 years really... not like the Yankees who always win.

Gotta love ESPN... "Is there one NL team that could have battled the Red Sox?" "Yes, the Mets, if they could have stayed healthy, could have absolutely matched the Red Sox."

Figured I'd fire up the Hot Stove League.

Mets exercised the '08 option Alou and re-signed veteran Damion Easley off the bench. Bench already looking good with Easley, Castro, Chavez and Gotay all under control. Just gotta re up with Marlon Anderson and we'll be set in that respect.

NOW BRING HOME AROD TO HIS CHILDHOOD TEAM OMAR.

Why not? They got rid of Mota in the deal. It's a win.

From what I gather the Mets are trying to build up players to make a deal for Bedard. 1050AM out of NYC said that the Orioles and Mets are in SERIOUS talks to try and get a deal to happen. I know the Orioles had interest in Church in the past and REALLY like Gomez... It would be interesting to see if they can get something done.

This would salvage an otherwise trainwreck of a trade with Millege..

It'll be awesome when Estrada gets on base hitting in the 8 hole and is on first when Reyes come up and hits one in the gap. Reyes will probably pass Estrada 1/4 of the way to 2nd.

i've heard that the orioles are completely against trading bedard

either way, if the mets aren't including a catcher in the deal, what are they going to do with three 31-year old below-average backstops?
