I am going to have a halloween party and I want to go all out. What are some ideas for: - drink recipes (alcoholic and non) - snacks that wouldn't be too expensive or complicated to make - decorations
and any other things that you have seen at another halloween party that you thought was really cool.
Also, I am trying to decide whether to have my party the weekend before halloween, or Monday or Tuesday night before. A lot of other people are probably going to have halloween parties the weekend before, but I don't know if people would come out during the week. What do you guys think?
THANKS IN ADVANCE! 10/2/2007 8:37:02 PM |

you should have it the weekend before if you are in the working world - you can pull off a tuesday night before in college though 10/2/2007 9:01:01 PM |

Dollar Tree (or at least the one near my work in Cary) has some cool Halloween stuff. They have some foam tombstones if you want to do creepy decorations. And gargoyles and stuff like that. They also have cutesy stuff like teddy bears in costumes, but that wouldn't make very good party decor. 10/2/2007 9:22:42 PM |

Plastic Cauldron Green PJ Freeze water inside of gloves and add a drop of blue or red food coloring....shape like hands and float them for ice in the cauldron.
make sugar cookies shaped like fingers and push an almond slice at the end like a finger....paint it red with food coloring after baking.
Brain jello mold is neat....
Buy some cheap roses and a cheap vase from thrift store and spray paint them black and spread spiderwebs between them. 10/2/2007 9:40:14 PM |

Yeah I wouldn't imagine it to take long if you already knew what the faces were gonna look like/be made out of. It would probably take a while to think up some creative ones though. 10/3/2007 4:19:29 PM |

We are scratching the whole snacks idea because there will be too many people. Here are my ideas so far:
- Find old plywood and board up the windows - Cover the furniture in old sheets and squirt fake blood on them, maybe some bloody handprints also - Make the front yard a graveyard, make a fence and headstones and get some dirt to put in a rectangle shape mound in front of the headstones to give it that "just buried" look - Caution tape over the front door - PJ in plastic cauldron with dry ice and creepy things floating in it (eyeballs, frozen hands as pawprint suggested), witch serving PJ - body outlines on the floor using masking tape - cobwebs in all corners - skeletons?? - fog machine and strobe light
I know we are mixing the cemetery/murder scene themes but I think that will be ok. I need more recommendations to make the apartment spooky/scary/creepy and also recommendations on where to get the supplies for the things I want to do and not spend a lot of $$$.
P.S. If anyone has anything I could borrow or they could donate they would definitely be welcome at the party

Cover everything with black plastic trashbags. Go to dollar tree and get one or two cheap white shower curtain liners(or use trashbags) and cut jagged slits running from top to bottom with a razor blade. Hang them in the door ways, dangling down. Trim it a little so it's easier to see to walk through.
Washable red paint can be used to make footprints or handprints outside or on tile/linoleum. The crayola kind washes up easy and it is pretty cheap.
Use caution tape to block anything you don't want people getting in to....for example, we used it to do the stairway to our bedrooms to keep people out.
You can freeze gummy worms in ice cubes and float those in drinks.
We made a coffin out of cardboard and lined it with purple velvet material and put chips around a skeleton laying inside and salsa spilling out of his head like brains.
Special party guests had their own special mug....I had a pumpkin....others had vampires and the like....they were a $1 at dollar tree.
Good luck!
^^Sorry kiwi, I didn't see that until just now! 10/10/2007 8:49:35 PM |
