It is an incredibly accurate representation of my day at work. Essentially, I'm given a deadline to meet, something that I could easily finish in a quarter of the time. It doesn't matter if I mention this to my boss, as his response is something along the lines of: "So what? That's when they need it done by, there's no point in having it done earlier." So what do I do in the meantime? Absolutely nothing of any value. I mean, I work on my own things - I have several independent side projects that I tend to do while I'm at my "real" job and I like to teach myself new programming languages as well as keep up to date in AJAX, CSS, etc. I am creative only in the things that don't relate to what I get paid for.
I really feel like I'd work harder if I actually had something to do. But is it any surprise that we're pegged as lazy? I don't do jack, and I get paid for it. Anyway, I found it amusing.
