http://www.videosift.com/video/Jon-Stewart-gives-Chris-Matthews-a-book-interview-from-Hell

John Stewart is an immature punk, he invites chris on his show only to make fun of him, what a piece of S$%^, you will notice that chris handled himself with alot of dignity and didnt get caught up in fighting with him. go chris!!

He attacked the idea of living your life like a political campaign as something that comes across as phoney and tried to get a reaction out of Chris Matthews. Chris Matthews kind of smiled and stayed good natured so it ended up being a bit that went nowhere. He really didn't say anything substantive, not that John Stewart gave him too much of a chance to do so. Reminded me more of a Stephen Colbert interview than most of the John Stewart ones.

Really though, it was nothing to get your panties in a wad over.

matthews wrote a book about living your life as if it were a political campaign

john disagreed with that opinion and shared it with him

^^ I don't think he was trying to get a "reaction" out of matthews. He was trying to get him to explain his book a little more, and jon was giving him his honest opinion.

They clearly had two very different outlooks on life.

I mean, I think living your life like a campaign is a terrible way to live your life.

Matthews seems to think otherwise. I was waiting for him to clarify his stance, but he just sat there with that dumb look on his face, like he couldn't believe that people would think it was a horrible idea.

its interesting...a lot of newscasters who are basically "serious" for a living have pretty good senses of humor...aside from koppel another good example IMO is brian williams...im sure others have good dry wit senses of humor

I liked Bill until I saw him dressed in orange and acting like a fool at the Elite 8 UA vs Illini. Ever since then I've taken issue with him. It's totally unfounded, I just hate the Illini so he's a douchebag by association

I don't know who this chris matthews guy is, some random author guy I guess. Anyways what was so "interview-from-hell" like about that video. Seemed pretty normal to me.

well basically the idea is you go on someone's show, and talk about your book to promote it. this was the interview from hell in that case, from chris matthew's perspective.

still looked like a typical John Stewart interview to me. Jostle the interviewee up a bit to get a better response out of the audience. Then to come back and shake hands at the end. Not sure what the op was so upset about, besides being a fan of this Chris guy.

Chris Matthews is a douche bag. And there's this:

Quote :
"Matthews has worked for four Democratic politicians. He was a presidential speechwriter for four years during the Carter administration. He served as a top aide to long-time Speaker of the House of Representatives Tip O'Neill for six years. He worked in the U.S. Senate for five years on the staffs of Senators Frank Moss and Edmund Muskie before himself campaigning for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, and losing his party's nomination to Pennsylvania Congressman Joshua Eilberg in the Democratic primary in 1974."

Quote :
"Speaking at the tenth anniversary party of his show, 'Hardball', Matthews was deeply critical of the Bush Administration, claiming that the Administration had been 'caught in criminality.' He refused to specify what such 'criminality' might consist of. During the same speech, he stated that the Administration had 'pressured' his 'bosses' in an attempt to silence him. Again, though, he referred to no specific stories that they had attempted to silence."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Matthews

Yet another "unbiased" mainstream anchor.
