Alrighty, so here is an issue that has happened twice to my car in the last few months. Car runs smoothly with no issues. When the tank gets low (not below E or anything) I fill the tank as the gas station, and start the car. The car starts, and then shuts off immediately. Happens over and over again. So what I have done is just go away for a few minutes, and then try again and the car starts just fine, no issues.
Anyone familiar with this issue? Any information would be greatly appreciated. 10/9/2007 2:20:54 PM |

Bad fuel pumps tend to not work immideatly after going from empty to full. They get hot when you run them low (gas is their coolant/lubricant) and when you fill the tank it rapidly cools them down. 10/9/2007 2:35:15 PM |

possibly fuel pressure regulator, when the tank gets low, the pump has less head, and the pressure is lower, the regulator opens up more, when you fill it, its not immiediatly controlling the pressure, and floods out

From now on, try just filling the tank 1/3 or 3/4 of the way. Let us know if by doing this anything changes.

^^ I never top it off.
^ I guess I can try that, thing is that this has only happened twice in the last few months so it will be hard to tell if that does any good. Thanks for the advise. 10/10/2007 9:02:39 AM |

it wont be hard at all, it will be easy. as easy as not filling the tank to capacity.
or, you can let some chump service writer at a shitty chain shop convince you to spend hundreds to replace your fuel pump. 10/10/2007 7:36:37 PM |
