that's why I am seeing this movie with my girlfriend

I enjoy European history so I think a movie about the greatest naval battle of all time will be pretty cool

The first Elizabeth movie was really good, so I had high hopes for this one, given that it was done by the same folks; but this was VERY disappointing. I was especially irked at the 15 minutes or so of the film (early on) when you can see the boom arm on one corner of the screen and then the microphone bulb actually creeping down into the top of the frame-- repeatedly. So much for quality film making. I could have gotten over the fact that she is supposed to be in her 50's in this film if it had been well made, but the director (or whoever had final cut) really flubbed it. It had all the right elements to be good, but it just didn't work.

I don't see where everyone is getting this about raleigh singlehandely winning the battle, to me the battle just showed that he was terrific naval warrior and helped to decimate a group of ships, not an entire fleet

just came back from seeing the movie...

6.8/10

Not enough of the battle scene and too much of a love story. Needless to say, my girlfriend really enjoyed the movie. The trailers were misleading. I think I just willingly went to see a chick flick.

see, i thought the opposite, the movie just kinda fell apart for the battle scene

the writer/s obviously didn't really want to write that part, and seems to just slap it together as factually as they could... the rest of the movie was ok though

props to them for including John Dee... not many movies show how prominent astrology was in those days...

^wow I thought I was the only one, the first one was better cause it focused on all the intrigue, deception, and love going on in the palace, and I thought whatever the writer was going for kind of faltered once the battle scene came along

ah now it makes sense, they added the guy who wrote First Knight, and Gladiator to the one original writer so obviously there had to be some grand, romantic battle scene in there

it's like they just let him take over for the last quarter of the movie and all themes went to hell

just to clarify I would still classify it as good and recommend seeing it, I just think it could have been spectacular(like the first one) if it had not sputtered a little towards the end
