k so i'm gonna get a new XM receiver (i still have the original skyfi, haha)

got a skyfi2 on ebay for $55.

i want to mount it correctly this time instead of doing a half-assed job.

should i get:

a) a gooseneck-type deal that bolts to the seat, has built-in cable management which is nice
http://tinyurl.com/yuzjwd

or

b) a pro-fit VSM mount that bolts behind the climate control and looks sorta OEM
http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/Adobe/DG-71-04.pdf

and:

should i:

a) use the built-in FM modulator since i'm expecting to install my carputer (car computer for the non-initiated, http://thewolfweb.com/photos/00478318.jpg <---my old one in my old car) soon, so i won't even need the xm receiver as the carputer will have it built in

or

b) drop $70 on an aux input adapter to hook the XM up over RCA to the cd changer input of my headunit

the FM mod actually doesn't sound bad, mind you... heard it in a friend's car, surprisingly good for an fm mod

I have one of the pro-fit VSM kits for my truck and it looks great. Very sturdy and looks like it is part of the original equipment.

no, CC just gets more replies

and yeah... i think i'm gonna go w/ the pro-fit mount - it mounts to the right of my climate control - is yours angled enough to be able to see the display/change channels? should i get the regular one or the Legend one that can swivel?

you definitely want it to swivel, so your passengers can see the display too, that is, if they are messing with it

for hooking it up, stay away from an FM modulator if you can help it. Try to get a line-in if possible

get the pro-fit peice, worth every penny and looks good. get the aux in. its the difference of listening to your xm radio, or continuously trying to figure out which fm chanel gives you the least amount of static while listening to the xm. also worth every penny of $70.

i hate road tripping without xm now- it's such a pain to have to change cd's or find a radio station that you'll only have for about 45 minutes
