CAN YOU IMGAINE THE EXCITEMENT GOING ON IN MY HEAD RIGHT NOW???

What should I do to prepare? I guess I need a map. And what's this "subway" i keep hearing about? Are they scary? What if I'm staying in a place where people second guess my race? You know, what if they actually think I'm so gangster I'm not even white. I am pretty gangster you know.

So here's where you come in. I need you to tell me in 100 words or less your experiences in NYC. Have you ever been in Bed Stuy? Brooklyn? I'm just so excited. I've been writing "I HEART NYC" on everything lately. It's like I won the trip on the price is right.

I've never been. Almost went last year in the Super Dodge with Jeepman to do some contract welding work for a big hotel, but it fell through...

you don't need a map. it's a grid, you can find your way easily just by figuring out what street you need to be at and what street you are at.

use the subway to go long distances, walk for short

by all means, stay out and around as much as you can, don't waste time in your hotel room.

bar hop like it's your job. hit up the HA comedy club, near times square

tribeca and little italy are the shit, chinatown is garbage

go to central park

eat at the empire state building

now for MY experience in 100 words or less:

speeding. cutting people off. honking. sirens. laughing hysterically. drinking. talking to random people. bootleg copy of superbad for 5 dollars. bar-hopping from central park to times square. amazing. man throwing rocks at people in central park. michael jackson impersonator in subway. fat chinese man singing opera in subway. 3 angry black kids talking about shitting on people in subway. natural history museum seen in 20 min because it was close to closing time. don't give anyone money. food in little italy = the bomb diggity. ground zero = boring as fuck, riddled with conspiracy people. no 1 hook & ladder in tribecca where some of ghostbusters was filmed = cool. if going to a restaurant just to drink, make sure you go to the bar or else you supposedly have to order food too.

Go get a falafel at Mamoun's. I love that place. It's in Greenwich Village. Sandwich and a Coke for $3. I also know a good dim sum place in Chinatown. It's on.... Elizabeth Street? I think. It's right across the street from Chinatown's police station. There's great shopping in Chinatown too.

Yeah, as a tourist those passes will save you a lot of money, especially if you use the subway to go everywhere.

Make sure your hotel room is in Times Square because we ended up switching hotels to hang out there the most...

The Subways are confusing if you don't have a map, but they're not scary at all... just don't use them at night... get a taxi or walk...

It was simply awesome and I'm going back in Feb...

^^ if you enjoy hanging out in times square you might as well just hang out in your local mall.

also the subway at night are just as crowded as they are during the day. As long as you dont take a train to east new york you should be fine.

I went to NYC earlier this year and it had been quite an experience.

Times Square was breath taking! It was so crowded with bands playing music on the streets and lights everywhere.

Since then, I have been back to NYC at least 4 times and I enjoy it everytime. On this last trip I went to Brooklyn and Sea Port, took a trip around the Statue of Liberty and a tour on a charter boat around the Hudson river.

You will definitely enjoy it....just take a camera with you!

Make sure to ride in a cab at least once. They all have that sterotypical New York cab driver shit down to a science. They can somehow cut everybody off, accelerate faster than the space shuttle with cars in front of them, stop one inch behind the car in front of them while doing 65 in a 25, all the while honking continuously. All this without wrecking every 10 seconds. I'm originally from NY at it still amazes me. I swear they're all robots.

Oh yeah, the "subway" is just a place where Giuliani used to make homeless people disappear.

The city has a great sense of humor too. ^

I've used the Subway and night and had zero problems. Then again, they probably assume white chick at night using the subway = insane.
