I need to get a heat pump for my condo. 2 Ton should be big enough. How much does it cost to get this installed, and is it something you can do yourself? 10/27/2007 2:16:17 PM |

^ Unless you've done it before, you really wouldn't recommend installing a heat pump yourself. For one, you're probably not licensed to handle refrigerants. If it's a new install you need a licensed electrician for the high voltage wiring. You'll also have to be a proficient brazer to install the refrigerant lines. It's not rocket science, but it's not a job for someone with zero experience to do without supervision.

Have you done the heating load calculations to make sure this is the right size? Guessing at the amount of heating/cooling you need and being wrong can cost you a lot of money in terms in inefficiency.10/27/2007 2:27:06 PM |

^ if it's for his condo it would be 240. Lighting is about the only thing that's 277 in industrial
if it's a packaged unit you can do it yourself, otherwise don't

I googled 350v for shits and giggles...
Looks like it's used for a miriad of handy residential applications such as electric ship propulsion and electric guitar amps.
edit: Oh, and speaking of 277 volt lighting. Carefull around that shit. It will seriously fuck you up.

ahahahaha, wow, 277 is one leg of three phase 460 typically used on commercial or industrial lighting, 350VAC is not used on any application, and for he record, 220-240VAC is single phase, 208VAC is across two legs of three phase 230VAC.
what exactly is wrong with your old one that you feel you need to replace it?
1. You don't have the recovery equipment to evacuate the old one 2. You can't buy a package unit, air handler, compressor unit, or refrigerant without a license 3. You don't have the gauges nor can buy them to charge it, nor the tools or experience to braze he lines 4. You should go with a direct replacement unit or one step up in size 5. I am available occasionally to take a look at these things, I've been cutting back my side work a lot now, send me a pm.10/28/2007 5:03:28 PM |
