car doesn't brake until the pedal is almost at the floor. no resistance to the pedal up top. just started happening in the past week.

i think it might the master cylinder, and since that's a cheaper part i was gonna throw that at it first, after bleeding the brakes. if neither takes care of it, what else could it be?

are there any service centers that do brakes around here (campus) that are open on sundays?

it was the master cylinder, replaced it yesterday.


on an unrelated note, are ALL brake bleeder screws weak aluminum pieces of shit? every time i try to work on my gf's brakes (on the corolla) i end up breaking one, and i'm tryin to be as gentle as possible and still get the damn things loose & tight. fortunately none have broken to where i haven't been able to get the damn thing out.

I always use a close fitting 6 point socket to break them loose if they are that tight, less chance of breaking them, and experience wrenching helps, learn how to center your force in a radial pattern and not in a lateral direction, that also helps to keep from rounding them off and busting knuckles.
