i.e., I have business associates put in the position to hire new people to their organization. And facebook isn't just for the young crowd. It's a tool used by anyone with a computer and a basic understanding of how to flip on a light switch

yes, he would know about it. dick. he's fucking 30, not some 80 yr old fossil i had to show what internet explorer was. facebook wasn't some secret society i let him in on, there's fucking magazine and newspaper articles about it weekly. OH NOES I LET HIM KNOW WHAT MYSPACE IS TOO!!

it seems like common sense that if you expect 'something' to stay private / or kept within a close group of friends.....you make damned sure that 'something' doesn't meet the internet. And you make absolute damn sure that 'something' doesn't have your name attached to it.

Sure, it would be ideal if the internet stayed on the internet....and real life stayed real life....and the two never merged. But that's never been the case. EVER.




It's just crazy to me how people in this day and age think that the internet can't possibly forsake them! The internet can't possibly, in any way, affect my real life......I mean.....it's just a computer backed up by a series of tubes, right?

im saying that as an employer, if an employee is doing the work assigned to a satisfactory level, then what said employee does off the clock should not be a concern to the employer

i know that the internets arent private...but that doesnt mean that if your employer should fire you if you are doing the work assigned to a satisfactory level based on what you do off the clock

obviously, if what you do outside of work prevents doing your work (you go to jail) then termination is appropriate

addendum: i worked at a place where damn near half the employees got high on a regular basis (it was a real job, none of this gumby's nonsense)

it didnt fuck with their job so there is no problem

i still don't know where you got this from. i never even knew anyone's names he looked up -if he even did - (on his own) once everyone was able to get on there. i never even said anyone got directly or indirectly affected by it. you just took his realization that people are stupid in what they put on the damn website and ran with it claiming i looked up all kinds of people in/prospectively in the company and sold them out.
