sorry for all the abbreviations. What I'm looking for is classes and professors that will take as little time as possible because I'm going to need it for my engineering classes. I need to decide on a class and professor for my history/philosophy/religion requirement, and a professor EC 205.
The ones availible for EC 205 spring '08 are: HYMAN CHOI COOMER GULSEVEN MARTEN NOWEL
I currently have Hyman for economics, but I don't know about any of these professors. And I know nothing about the history, philosophy or religion departments. Anyone with experience in these departments, your help is appreciated. 10/30/2007 9:00:24 AM |

I had hyman for EC 205 and it wasn't that bad. When I took it, you also had to go to a mandatory lab session but that was where you learned most of the stuff anyway. For history/phil/relig I took HI 341 Technology in History with Bonham. Believe there was a paper or 2 to write and the tests were multiple choice/short answer. Hyman was ok...I took him my first semester, never studied, had the WORST lab instructor and passed with a C+ I missed a B- by less than a point. Pay attention in class, take notes and you should do fine. 10/30/2007 9:50:01 AM |

lab is 25% of your grade so if you get stuck with a shitty lab instructor you wont really learn much and your grade will suffer. My lab was at 9 am on friday...with a quiz every other week, a few of my friends never had quizzes they just got grades for attendance. 10/30/2007 11:30:25 AM |

I didn't even know there was a lab associated with EC205
I took it last semester with Collett-Schmitt and she was awesome. Interesting class, very fair grading and tests. Didn't have a lab but we met MWF. 11/4/2007 11:39:01 PM |

I would say Hyman is the best lecturer on that list, based on who I've had.
He also has a built in curve to his grading system.
And he sells an additional study guide that would be beneficial to have. 11/5/2007 7:19:03 AM |

Hyman
No HW, the lab is easy as shit and so is the class. It really doesn't get easier than that. 11/5/2007 7:51:28 AM |

^ and when I took him, you could buy the old tests at the bookstore. He had no textbook so it was made up for the fact I was paying for this. Also Hyman was hilarious, he was always coming to class with crazy outfits. 11/5/2007 3:58:58 PM |

my, aren't we droll today...
upon perusing the catalogue, i was surprised that some of them are still open though. phi 205 is easy, regardless of who teaches it, but there'll be a lot of freshmen (read dumbasses) in there. dr. jesseph is the man, but the material he teaches (300 and 301) is kinda dry; out of what's available, i would probaby take existentialism (310), but that's just what interests me 11/5/2007 7:22:01 PM |
