didnt see another thread. comes out Nov 13th.

3 tracks from the new album up online now: http://www.purevolume.com/dillingerescapeplan

its not bad. i like Horse Hunter a lot. The first two I heard were ok but I like this 3rd one better. Musicianship-wise all the new stuff is still top notch, I feel like this new band is capable of putting out songs as good as the original band, but each album isnt as solid from top the bottom (filler/weaker tracks).

guess ill find out soon enough.

exactly. theres no doubt its going to have some great songs on it and some ridiculous time signatures, guitar parts, and general organized chaos. And it will probably be near the top for my favorite album of the year. But I just dont know that they produce enough variation in their sound to have an album of the decade type album.

Outside of their chaotic riffs, there is always going to be some groovey riff, and the parts of the song that change the pace up are going to be either an eerie jazz section or spacey singing. And while they are all written and executed to mathematical perfection (hence why the title 'calculating infinity' for their breakthrough album is still one of my favorite titles ever), I still feel like they could do something more. I dono.

I saw them with Bungle in 1999. They will probably never be better than they were then. Silly to only have 1 dude left in the original band and still call it by the original name.

Tracks they did with Mike Patton were pretty hot by the way.

i was ok with it until they lost original drummer chris not long ago. because the last remaining member (guitar player) and chris wrote basically ALL of their material and thus the newer material has still stayed somewhat true to dillinger considering the writers were still in the band throughout member changes. I know the new drummer is good but now it finally feels like the true dillinger name is lost.

^^ Exactly. I can almost understand if the original member is the guy that writes everything, but not the case here. Especially for a band that really has all the members doing their own thing. That's what was awesome about them in the beginning. That and what they were doing back then really hadn't been done before.

meh its ok. Chris Pennie's absence on this album is glaring imo. Dillinger always gets the hype, and usually they deliver. the record is a good effort but you gotta do more for an album of the year let alone decade
