If you all have not figured this out yet i will clue you all in.

There are only a handful of us on TWW that are remotely qualified to give any kind of medical advice.

I'm sorry but i got my MD from WebMD doesn't count.

The only advice you are going to get from us is to go to the fucking doctor.

SURE i will have a few ideas on whats ailing you and a few ideas of how to treat it at home, but in order to protect my license(and the rest of the qualified peeps on TWW actually want to obtain their licenses in the near future) so the only advice we can safely give is to go to the fucking doctor.

SO GO TO THE FUCKING DOCTOR

if you do not have insurance or are not a student

you can go to a minute clinic... there are several in the triangle http://www.minuteclinic.com they are cheap and fast and can handle the basics.

the open door health clinic sponsored by urban ministries

the health department

last resort the ED: they have social workers and other people that can help you find ways to pay for your bill

sometimes people might want to have an idea of what it is before they see a doctor. You know, so when the doctor says "you gonna die" they aren't so surprised because they heard it first on tww.

the patients of mine who lived to leave the ICU probably

at least i offered SEVERAL low cost

and at least one convenient option(s) for qualified medical advice.

and what annoys me even more is the fact that some of the same people post in all of the ask Dr TWW threads as if they have a wisp of medical training.

nope, evan is not who i am referring to.

There are several med students on here

thats it... students, they have no license to practice medicine.

i have a license to practice nursing... which severely limits what advice i can give.

especially advice i am willing to put in writing.

yeah, because that wasted so much of my time.
On a serious note, I didn't know there were doctors or nurses on this site. Only one I knew of was Evan with EMS. And I don't make these threads anyways.

it's fun, pay isn't nearly what it should be, but being in the air all the time has it's benefits.

I only listen to real doctors and anecdotal evidence from random strangers on the internet. If I want the opinion of a nurse I'll call my mom.

I'd take the opinion of a vet over that of a nurse.

I trust a murse more than I trust a nurse. At least a murse can change it's own oil and not go "OMG! OMG! OMG!" in an emergency.

brainysmurf, judging by your hostile behavior and use of short paragraphs, it is my duty as a doctor to inform you that you may be suffering from that MSRA staff infection that's going around.

i recommend you buy a leg-brace, eat as much ice cream as you can, and take some ibuprofen. should pass in no time.

^you forgot a crucial aspect of treatment...when battling MSRA, tampons must be changed frequently and regularly.

just like to throw in that i volunteer here, and to be eligible to use the clinic, you have to be below the poverty line. this ain't no walk in and get it type of deal, unlike some people will have you believe.

I smirked at this

so i will weigh 400 lbs, and have a stiff leg!!

MAYBE just maybe there will be enough antiplatelet action in the ibuprofen to keep me from getting a DVT and throwing a gigantic PE from the immobility issues arising from being 400 lbs.
