Where's the best place to buy HDMI cables and other cables like optical, digital coax, RGB, RCA, etc? Best Buy. Circuit City and Radio Shack are all rip offs for cables. I know a system is only as good as it's weakest link and cables can make a difference but the price they charge for an HDMI cable is just plain crazy.

I did a TWW search, which I should have done first, and came up with http://www.monoprice.com and newegg.

DIE

so you searched, found your answer, and made a thread to confirm your search? kinda defeats the purpose of a search

newegg is your best bet

with HDMI and optical or coaxial audio cables, the cable makes no difference whatsoever. the signal is digital. it's either all or nothing.

I got three 6' HDMI cables for $15 total on monoprice. One of these cost like $80 at Best Buy.

Here's how it went down. I had question, asked question on TWW, after posting thought "geez I really should have done a search on that", so I did a search, found what I was looking for, edited my post to say that I found it and told the thread to DIE. I would have deleted that thread but I'm no MOD.

http://www.firefold.com/

This place is based in Charlotte (or right outside of Charlotte) - they offer great prices and extremely fast shipping!

sellout.woot.com has them for $3 plus $5 shipping. You can get 3 for $14.

to sound like a noob - how do you determine what would be the best type of HDMI (1.0 vs. 1.3a)

And because they have no clue as to how to shop for things via the big bad scary internet....ebay has them cheap as well, I got 3 6 footers for 16 shipped.

someone just dropped 3k on a tv so it suddenly becomes reasonable for them to drop a measly $80 on cables that will "get the most" out of their wallet display

No, and neither did my roommate who also ordered 3. But I wouldn't worry about it too much. Often times I've actually received my package from woot before I get the email with the shipping details.

Although I did order a shirt from them the same day and I got that shipping email. But still, I wouldn't worry about it.
