I guess everyone thinks 4 wins in a row is a fluke

I dont know how Miami can be ranked at #50 after the shalacking (sp?) they got last weekend by the Cavaliers

DROD900, the only thing that can really explain some of that is that they are only looking at a team's W-L and not what got them there.

question about bowl eligibility

i know you have to be at least .500 to be bowl eligible

but i thought wins against D1-AA / FCS schools didnt count towards that?

if we go 6-6 will we be bowl eligible since our overall record is .500 or do we have to go 7-5 since that would be 6-5 over D1-A schools???

you have to win six games, only one can be against a 1-AA school

Could be just like 2 years ago when State and Maryland were both 5-6 and we had that last game in Raleigh to see who would go to the Continental Tire Bullshit Bowl.

it used to be that way but they changed it b/c bigger schools were refusing to schedule the D1-AA since it wouldnt count for anything

it makes sense
big schools didnt get anything for scheduling those teams early in the season. not only that...it was a big payday for said D1-AA schools. if the big school loses...it loses a game and money.
if they win..it counts towards a bowl

pretty simple logic

well i guess it makes sense your world of not knowing shit about sports

but you see, the previous rule was that a 1A school could schedule multiple 1AA schools with no penalties -- although rarely did that happen

when the NCAA allowed for 12 games to played, they decided to nip that in the bud, allowing only one 1AA victory to count

that's even better logic, because that's what happened

They used to allow one 1-AA win to count every three years I think. It was changed to every year a few years ago.

Either way we didn't use the 1-AA win last year so Wofford can count toward this year.

Don't expect to be linked to a fact most people know...look it up yourself if you have any doubt

It's one 1-AA win per year, everyone knows that

Except for retards and Pam Ward

back to the issue at hand

let's get the rules clear, because people are spouting nonsense like last year's wofford win counting towards this year's bowl eligibility

to be bowl eligible you need six wins, one 1-AA win per year counts towards that total

you can't use wins from previous years, nor could you ever

six wins doesn't guarantee a berth, of course -- premier bowls are given first pick, lesser bowls are allowed to choose from remaining qualified teams in order of priority

those are the facts, google if you want

All true, but it should also be noted that a team's record or finish within the conference doesn't determine which bowl they go to.

If a team is 7-5 and is 5th in the conference, the bowl with the 3rd pick can take that team if they think they'll get more fans and more money than they would from the higher ranked team who was 8-4 and 4th in the conference.

Its always about the fucking dollar.

Right, I just added that since a lot of people are still under the impression that your record directly determines what bowl you go to.

I bet Rat was one of those people.

Smart schools have and will continue to schedule bottom-tier 1-A teams instead of 1-AA teams because they don't provide that much more of a challenge but they still count towards bowl eligibility.

Western Kentucky or App State?

You'd rather play Western Kentucky, and it counts toward a bowl.

Wofford was this year. You were probably referring to my post:

Quote :

Let me be clear.

The argument at the time was whether you could use a 1-AA win once a year or once every two years. My comment was pointing out that it did not matter either way because we didn't use a 1-AA win to get in a bowl last year, therefore our Wofford win would count whether the once per year or once every two year rule was in effect.

we still gave up the 70 yard TD pass during that game too didn't we... wow, we get big-played at least 1x per game no matter who it is.

I just hope we don't play Smith Center High School in a bowl game. They'd probably beat us.
