okay, so i'm aware there are lots of weight lifting threads and those "tell me how to lose weight without changing my lifestyle" threads. this question is a bit more focused, and i'm posting on my husband's behalf rather than my own.
he used to weigh about 165 (~2.5 years ago), and is now up to 190. it's mainly a result of low activity (desk job 8-10 hours a day, lots of video games, and discontinuing martial arts due to work schedule). i'm trying to help him get his weight back down by discouraging fatty foods and empty calorie snacks/drinks, and promoting fiber and water intake.
when he was in college, he would work out with a friend who was a personal trainer, and he would just do whatever he was instructed. now, he feels a bit lost about where to start. our apartment complex has a "gym" with a treadmill, stair climber, reclining bike, and a weight station that can do some leg and arm exercises. we also have some free weights in our apartment. obviously, nothing fancy.
what i'm looking for is recommended exercise routines (besides "run a lot" or "lift lots of weights") that will help him in his goal to shed some pounds. i think a set list of "do this, this many times, on these days, in this order" will help him become more focused and help him reach his goals.
any help is appreciated. 11/18/2007 11:46:39 PM |
