Maryland (5-6, 2-5, #6 ACC-A)
vs
NC State (5-6, 3-4, #5 ACC-A)

It's senior day in Raleigh, and Maryland comes to Raleigh for the final home game of the season for the Wolfpack in hopes of getting the 6th win and becoming eligible to go to a bowl. NC State comes in on the same terms. They also need one more win to become eligible and hopefully go to a bowl, which when dropping 1-5 earlier in the season seemed like an IMPOSSIBLE feat, so it is remarkable to be at this point as it is. Blackman, Dunlap, Goodman, Hill, Pressley, Scott, Bedics, Brown, Dervil, Heppe, Jones, Kline, Martin, Ojo, Romph, Stone, Sutton, Wright, Holloman, and Hauschka do not want this to be their last game, and hope it won't be.

Maryland schedule to date:
DATE OPPONENT RESULT/TIME
09/01 Villanova W 31-14
09/08 at Fla Int'l W 26-10
09/13 #4 W Virginia L 31-14
09/22 at W Forest L 31-24
09/29 at #10 Rutgers W 34-24
10/06 Ga Tech W 28-26
10/20 #19 Virginia L 18-17
10/27 Clemson L 30-17
11/03 at UNC L 16-13
11/10 #8 BC W 42-35
11/17 at Florida St L 24-16
11/24 at NC State 12:00 PM

Maryland statistical leaders:
QB #10 Chris Turner - 117-188, 1547 yds, 8.23 YPA, 5-5 TD-INT
RB #21 Keon Lattimore - 193 att, 755 yds, 3.9 avg, 9 TD
WR #8 Darrius Heyward-Bey - 42 rec, 640 yds, 15.2 avg, 2 TD
Defense 23.8 points for, 23.5 points against, .3 margin

We need to put dujuan morgan in the backfield on passing plays so that we can save touchdowns when evans throws a pick.

I wonder if the team even practices what to do during interceptions or is that too much of a vote of no-confidence on the QB.

Maybe the practice it secret when Evans is not there.

Maryland's been a beat up team of late, losing a good chunk of their O-line. Luckily most of our injuries were early on in the season and most of them are returning or are close to returning. Sounds like on the Maryland message boards there might be a "QB controversy" for this weekend for them, or it's just the Fridge playing mind games with us and his starting QB. Here's to ending the year on a high note for our seniors!

puh...puh... puh... please win

I'll gladly take a trip to Boise especially knowing it keeps that fatass Fridge home for the holidays for the 3rd time in 4 years where he will surely to some binge eating.

Even IF we win, would there still be a chance that one of the 9 bowl eligible Big 10 teams could steal the ACC's last bowl slot or am I wrong?

only option is boise. All of the other bowls must choose a 7 win or more team if available. And apparently boise could also select a team that is 5 spots or more ahead of the available ACC team with the best record.

Quote :
"The MPC Computers Bowl in Boise, Idaho has the seventh pick of ACC teams after the BCS. If the MPC Bowl does not select the ACC team available with the best Conference record, it must select a team within one win of the ACC team available with the best Conference record. Also, MPC could take a team ranked more than five spaces ahead of the ACC team available with the best Conference record. The opponent is either the champion, or the second choice of teams in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC)."

Not true. Car Care in Charlotte, while not probable, is possible.

Quote :
"If the Pack can beat Maryland again, it might be able to squeeze into the Meineke Car Care, Music City or Emerald bowls. But with a slew of bowl-eligible teams in the ACC, at 6-6 the Wolfpack could be headed to Boise for the Dec. 31 Humanitarian Bowl.

Wake Forest's 38-18 thumping of the Pack on Saturday pushed the Demons Deacons to 7-4 and ahead of NCSU in the bowl pecking order.

"I'd love to have either one," Meineke Car Care bowl executive director Will Webb said Monday. "The bowls ahead of us could pick Wake Forest. Both are very attractive to us."

http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/ncsu/story/781257.html

wanted to add that they don't HAVE to take 7 win teams:
Quote :
"The Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tn. (Dec. 29, 1 pm ET on ESPN);
The Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, N.C. (Dec. 30, 1 p.m. ET, on ESPN) and
The Emerald Bowl in San Francisco, Calif. (Dec. 27, 8 pm ET on ESPN) share the fourth, fifth and sixth selections of ACC teams after the BCS. These bowls will submit their top three preferences of ACC bowl-eligible teams to the Conference Office in order to make the best selections from the available teams and bowls. If an agreement cannot be reached, then a financial ranking will be used to determine the selection order which would be:

1. Music City Bowl
2. Meineke Car Care Bowl
3. Emerald Bowl

If the order is used to determine selection then if the bowl selecting does not choose the next available team in the ACC standings, then the bowl must choose a team within one conference win of the ACC team available with the best Conference record. The bowl could also choose an ACC team that is ranked more than five spaces ahead of the ACC team with the best Conference record available in the Final BCS Standings. "

from Forde's weekly column:

Quote :
"NC State (37). Wolfpack started the year 1-5, with the only victory over Wofford. Now they're 5-6, with wins at Miami and over a ranked Virginia team. Tom O'Brien reaffirms his coaching ability in the process."

http://proxy.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=3120053&sportCat=ncf

and Maisel/Schlabach are predicting us to be on the blue field in a month:

If I'm not mistaken there's a new rule that states that any 7 win or more team must be chosen before a 6.

Quote :
"Note that a bowl can only select a 6-6 team from a conference if no 7-5 teams from that league are still available. Similarly, bowls seeking an "at-large" team to replace a conference that did not produce enough eligible teams cannot choose a 6-6 team if there is a 7-5 team available"

"(3) We need to clarify this issue of the ‘7 win rule’ that SFN highlighted a couple of times last week. For clarification purposes - this rule does NOT mean that a 6-6 team cannot be selected ahead of teams with 7 or more overall wins by a bowl with a conference affiliation. The rule is designed to insure that no 7-5 (or better) team is left home while the conference’s contractually obligated games are given away to teams with lesser records."
