got mine pulled this morning

anyone want to share their wisdom teeth stories? For example, if you remember anything while you were knocked out, etc.

I have a history of unexpected reactions to meds. The sedation did not work as it should. They kept dosing me, but I stayed awake, lucid, and talking the entire time. Finally, I told them to just get started because I was pretty sure that I wouldn't feel anything. The doctor was freaked out, but he hesitantly started cutting my teeth out and I told him to just keep right on. Half way through, I asked him to save my teeth for me and I thought the dental assistant was going to crap her pants.

I had all four of mine pulled a few years ago, and hated the 1st week after, because of the no solid food rule.

they thought i had a fifth wisdom tooth so they dug even deeper on my bottom left side. they were wrong. the huge hole in my gums ended up getting infected and they had to cut into my gums again. i couldn't eat solid food for a long time. one of the worst experiences of my life.

I remember eating a lot of pudding and being on hydrocodone

then feeling sick and trying to run to the bathroom to throw up and throwing up pudding all over the hallway...even though I had a trashcan next to my bed

yeah, I was out of it

I went through two scripts of pain meds and had such an awful start to my sophomore year (wisdom teeth came out like days before school started) that I ended up withdrawing that semester. It wasn't all due to my wisdom teeth, but the complications certainly did not help.

if wisdom teeth were so smart you'd figure they'd know where they were going

no offense to those with boob reductions but...

dont the cons of boob scars making your tits looked all fucked up outweight the benefits of having smallter tits?

well I woke up with the oxygen mask on me, and I got really scared because I didn't realize where I was

^^NO WAY! The cons are nothing compared to the benefits of having it done

Also if you have a good dr. the scars are minimal

My father stopped by the Wendy's drive-thru after I 'woke up' out of the anesthesia. He said the girl there gave me a free chocolate frostie cause they thought I was retarded with my head rollin around and drooling on myself.

Men will never understand what it is actually like to have large breasts. I don't know a single woman who has had it done that regrets it. I've been seriously contemplating a reduction once I finish popping out kids.

The only con that made me think twice before I got it was the possiblity of not being able to breast feed...but he said since I got it done when I was so young I should have enough time for them to heal

That baby issue is the only reason that I haven't had it done yet. Another mom in my mom's group had her's done after she finished breast feeding her last kid and she's never been happier. I cannot imagine the burden that will be gone if I can get these down to half their size.

when you get them down to size, you are gonna have to try to keep them down.

or you will notice that they have gotten bigger, then you will ask yourself where the $6000 go that you gave the Dr.

BTW: Dr. Hilliard in cary does a good job.

Unfortunately, they're at least a D no matter what I weigh. They were Ds at 115 and they're DDs 8 months preggers and pushing 200. I wish it were possible to starve them away, but it looks like I'm going to have to push my insurance for a reduction in a few years.

have you checked with insurance?

some cover it, but you are gonna have to go small, like B, close to A if you are going to use the "back ache" way.

i had to get all 4 removed, and they were allllllllllll tangled up in my gums and around eachother, so they had to put me under general anaesthesia. if you have a choice in the matter, do general. you don't feel a thing. you go to sleep, wake up (seemingly) a minute later, and feel nothing... at least, until the anaesthesia wears off.

my surgeon (dr. arne in wilmington at Coastal Carolina Oral/Max. Surgery if anyone's wondering... i would recommend him to ANYONE, he's awesome) gave me some demerol though

boyyyy that shit was fun. didn't feel a thing, don't remember a thing, but i wasn't in any pain according to my mom and my friends. hahaha

i ended up getting dry socket though try not to get that, it hurts like a mofo

If it is cosmetic, my insurance has discounts for those procedures. If it's medical, they will cover it. I'm fairly certain that I can get it classified as medical because I have a long history of congenital neurological issues (winging of the scapula, cervical vertebrae fusion, etc) that are complicated by having large breasts. And I dream about having small breasts. I sure as heck wouldn't cry over Bs.

This was my thread from a few weeks ago when mine were pulled. Start at page one...
Its like a first day, as soon as I got home from the dentist, kind of like a diary.

Two of mine were growing straight towards the other teeth...They weren't even trying to grow upwards and bust through the gums.

I told the dentist to knock me out. They hit me with an IV of what they said was Valium.

I woke up while he was breaking up one of the teeth. I don't know if they had my eyes covered or if I just couldn't open them, but I couldn't see anything. I felt him snatching on my head while trying to pull out all the pieces, but I didn't feel any pain nor did I really care about what was happening.

Then I started waking up and I told the 30+ year old nurse that "it sure is a shame you already have kids." lol.

....they just gave me mine when i had them out, i didnt even ask

however when i had a lump removed from my right arm pit i reminded my mom to take a picture of it with her cell phone before i was knocked out & when i woke up the first person i thanked was the anestesiologist (sp? not sure, dont feel like looking it up right now) and said "good job, i didn't die" :busted:

i ended up with dry sockets & i also started grinding my teeth like a mofo after i got them out. it got so bad i was grinding small holes in my teeth & had to get a nite guard to protect against the damage

i dont remember anything except waking up on the couch with bloody drool all over my shirt

Threw up like 10 times over the next day or two. Spent most of the time in bed drooling blood and spit...and I had to take an anti-nausea suppository because I wasn't keeping anything down. That sucked.

felt like shit right after, couldnt really sleep but I was tired, it was weird..took a day or two to completely recover. I heard now they dont put you under to take them out? All i remember is them giving me the IV and thinking to myself I am not going to go to sleep, then the next thing I remember is the dentist telling his assistant that my lips were chapped and they put chapstick on them. I was out after that, then the next thing I remember is hearing the dentist tell my mom my vital signs are strong as I was waking up(heart beat machine started beeping faster). Then I asked for something to throw up in(swallowed blood)...I managed somehow to throw the blood up on everything except in the container.

I Stayed awake during it, it was pretty cool.. kinda like being stoned? i had headphones on, and felt really "into" spoonman. the cracking of my teeth and feeling pressure down in my jaw was cool too. wasn't bad at all, got some percocet, needed like 4 and just stashed the rest

i remember waking up during the surgery but not being awake enough to really let them know. then i squeezed the woman who was holding my hand... i can only assume that this is the reason they have someone hold your hand during, and they put me back out. it was interesting.

apparently you can sue for that sort of thing and have a pretty good shot at winning. personally, i dont care, as long as a) i dont feel any pain and b) i wake up

Had mine out a couple of years ago. Went really well.. They put me to sleep and apparently whatever they used really did a number on me because it took me a while to wake up. Apparently I was "awake" but not coherent for a few hours. I remember walking into my parents house and apparently started talking to my parents about stuff that I had said in the past 5 minutes or something. I asked my dad what the instructions from the dr. was and he said he didnt pay attention because i was awake and nodding like i knew what was going on. anyway, I took 2 of the drugs they gave me and didnt need anything else.

My brother and I had identical wisdom tooth situations at pretty much the exact same time, so our parents decided to get all eight of our combined teeth removed on the same morning. So they had to deal with two drooling, head-lolling retards.

But even though everything about our procedures was pretty much identical, I was pretty well knocked out of comission for a couple of days and my brother was eating chopped-up hotdogs and talking nonstop after only a couple of hours.

i was feeling fine after everything today. Then I took the guaze out of my mouth, and with all the blood I felt like I was going to faint. I started sweating profusely. Luckily my mom and grandma were around to catch me so I didnt' fall and take care of me.

After that stint, I have been feeling like normal all day and wishing I could eat some pizza.

I remember waking up while I was knocked out and feeling lots of towels on my face. Somebody was digging into my jaw in the rear upper right wisdom tooth area. I'm assuming they were chiseling out the other half of my tooth. It was a fairly distant pain, like I wasn't suffering, but I remember it very well and very clearly, including the towels on my face (texture like beach towels).

It was strange, I fell asleep about 10 seconds later, then woke up once they were done and pretended to listen to the doctor while he ranted. I then decided to stumble out of the hall into my car and go home. Got home, passed out.

Then I woke up and threw up blood twice into the toilet, replaced the gauze on my wounds, and crashed for the rest of the day.

It was kind of rough. I was 15 at the time.

I asked for my teeth when I woke up, and they then wrapped them and out them in a sleeve for me. However, my Mom had one of hers removed like a week and a half after I did and they threw hers away and said "They don't do that anymore".

took a valium before i came in, then they gave me some shit to knock me out, then some laughing gas. a few breaths of that and i felt wasted, and the dentist asked me something and i slurred the shit outta my answer just before i passed out.

it didn't hurt much the first day, but the 2nd day i had a lot of pain/discomfort, the pain meds helped but eventually wore off.
