Believe it or not, I have a solution to such an issue.

I am unsure as to whether or not you figured it out based on your edit

^ditto

i have my tvs (there are good deals on big sharp aquos), i have a 360 and hd dvd player, the laptops are crap, and i have plenty of blank media. i wish there was a really good deal on a ps3 even though i'm not wild about it yet.

if you are only looking at price/GB then you would be correct, it is a good deal for that particular model though

oh, and if the store opens at 5am, what time do i need to get there to make sure I get the good stuff?

^^if you want a laptop, you need to be there at about 8pm tonight. if you get there after that you probably won't get one. a lot of people go out around 5pm or so to camp for laptops, cameras, and other ebay-able items.

got my $349 laptop at staples i was #27 in line at CC at 7:30pm last night, figured i wasn't going to get a voucher for one of the $299 laptops... went over to staples where there was no line whatsoever. in fact there was 20 laptops at staples (only 15 or so at CC) and there wasn't even 20 people in line at staples until 4:30am this morning.

i just went and picked up a new lenovo y410 ($600 AR) as an impule buy and it's awesome (the free ship store sold out in an hour so i drove the 10 mins, which is very unlinke me, but it was $30)

500G external hd for $40 AR w/free ship

and canon sd1000 w/1GB SD card were other online deals i took advantage of

the only thing i got in a store was my business attire for the next year (thanks Express)

man, i really need a new computer. mine won't stay connected to our wireless network, and it turns off on its own about once every hour or two. i'm pretty sure i'm also hearing the beginnings of a death rattle from one of the hard drives (thankfully I have them mirrored with RAID, so i won't lose data if it does shit the bed completely).

what's my best bet on a laptop at this point? baby's mama has all my money, so I gotta do this on the cheap. should i go with eBay? craigslist for a slightly used one? look for Cyber Monday deals, or other holiday season sales (to include any after Christmas sales--I can hold out for another month if I have to by borrowing either of my roommates' spare laptops when I need to).

^^^ How much are you looking to spend? Dell and HP both have base models at ~$500.

You can always check out the NEX even though their Thanksgiving flyer didn't look that impressive.

i either want to stay in the $300-350 (maybe $400 if i have to) range or get something better than a base model.

[Edited on November 25, 2007 at 3:49 PM. Reason : and yeah, the NEX didn't really have any deals]

nex aka px/bx/aafes? BF might have been interesting at these exchanges saving on tax and what not, if they still do this.

NEX/PX/BX/AAFES is tax free. Their prices usually aren't that great of a deal, though.

At least not in CONUS.

Overseas, however....

they're often a little cheaper on small, day-to-day items. the commissary is definitely cheaper than most grocery stores.

big ticket stuff like TVs and computers can often be found cheaper elsewhere, from what i've seen.
