i guess cause it happened back in the 60's or 70's in the rural area of alamance county and the way his grandpa "hired" him to do "yard work" and waited til he saw him steal something to shoot him...cause you can shoot somoene if they are stealing on your property and i had heard his uncle was "a little racist"(thats southern speak for not that bad... )

Yeah, that will put your ass in jail in a heartbeat in NC. I don't believe its morally right to kill someone over property, but I'm no this guy. On the other hand, I find the thought that you have to retreat in your own home utterly ludicrous.
