but this woman (i won't mention her name) has actually gone in and confiscated t-shirts that were made without her approval. the organization in question never got the shirts back and they lost the money they paid for them.

If I didn't read the white text (which I wouldn't bother to in most cases) and I saw you at some event then I'd probably assume you were EMS/fire-rescue worker there on behalf of health and public safety. So yeah I could see someone thinking that shirt might make people confuse you for an event worker or something like that.

^That's still theft. Our courts don't like people using self-help to resolve civil disputes.

Yeah but by that reasoning you should be able to drive around in a fully marked police car and just explain to people running to you for help that you're not really a cop.

I know that's a stretch, but I can kind of see that concern. It's silly though.

therein lies the problem

the maltese cross and the star of life (the two prominent figures in our logo) are the two things that represent fire services and EMS. we are the EMS and fire club. how else are we supposed to represent what we are there for if we can't use the two symbols that most readily identify us?

That's why I said it's silly. I mean it's not any worse than people wearing cop costumes. In fact it's a lot better because it's just a t-shirt and you ARE actually involved in EMS training right? I mean if someone did run to you for help you could probably render them some.

yeah, most of us in the club are state certified and work for an EMS or fire agency, so... we could render help if needed.

and it's even stupider because on the back we have "the 10 rules of ems" which is this funny description of basically what we do every day... pretty sure an agency of ncsu would not have that on the back of their shirts

ugh, see, that's the other thing

the shirts are to promote the club

we want ALL our members to have one. only about half of us are certified.

it's not like we'd wear them to events and whatnot, we just want to wear them around campus to get more people interested in the club/EMS/fire

Change the NCSU logo to a Red Crescent or a Red Diamond, change the text to Arabic or Hebrew re-submit and see what happens

and yeah - basically remove all references to NCSU. that kinda defeats the purpose of the shirts, though. i think her biggest problem is the block S logo... they're weird about that for some reason... but i mean, what else am i gonna put there?

plus the block s just looks cooler the whole reason i put it there is because everything else in the logo is angular and the clean lines of the block s just go well with everything else

I've encounter this before when making T-shirts for club sports. They will usually let you use the block S if you aren't selling them. Its when you are selling them that causes problems. It against some by-law made by the SOURCE (sp) committee.

You also have to register with the SOURCE committee to use any University affiliated logo.

it's SORC, not SOURCE. and we're registered with them, all student organizations have to be.. that's why it's the student organization resource center.

we're not selling them, they're only available to members and we're only charging what it costs us to get them made.
