spurrier wouldn't even think about going there unless they loosened their admissions standards....I doubt you could pick a dozen players from his Florida and USC teams that could legitimately get into Duke.

^Are you kidding me? It's tough for any era to top the 1980s in low admissions standards.

The only requirement that I can specifically think of that went "down" was the adoption of the sliding scale that effectively eliminated the minimum SAT. About 3-4 years ago the NCAA eliminated the minimum SAT in favor of a sliding scale which allows very low SAT scores if the student has a very high GPA. UNC system admissions standards have increased significantly.
