Am I the only one assuming the story is not exactly as reported?

This seems to be a case of:
1) the two daughters are having a bitter 13-year old relationship,
2) the mother of the one making up 'Josh' to find out what is really going on between the two daughters,
3) her daughter, who is almost certainly more Myspace savvy then her mother, figures out what her mother is doing
4) the daughter and her friends use it to attack Megan
5) the parents aren't willing to lay the blame on their daughter

I mean it’s possible that the parents are just vicious assholes, but ^ seems much more likely

Morals:
1) Don't get involved with a 13 year old girl's life, if you are over the age of 18, for any reason ever. ALWAYS A BAD IDEA.
2) Don't let your depressed, possibly suicidal, low-self esteem, 13 year old daughter have any kind of relationship whatsoever with a 16 year old stranger who wants to be her internet friend out of the blue. IT’S A TRAP.
3) The internet makes everyone act like they are a 13 year old girl.
