Floyd reminds me of Roy Jones Jr., very cocky but he backs it up. Floyd is quick.

Ricky Hatton is a bulldog, always coming forward and he works the body very well.

I think this could be Floyd's undoing I like Hatton in a close decision

As much as I dislike Mayweather, he has to be considered a huge favorite. Hatton my be undefeated, but he has only 1 significant victory in his entire career (Kostya Tszyu). More importantly, many people feel should have lost in his only previous fight at welterweight against Luis Collazo. Hatton realized he could not compete against the loaded welterweight division, and chose to move back down to junior welterweight and protect his record. Mayweather is pound for pound number one boxer for a reason. He is extremely fast, has great defense, and boxes smart. He'll probably make it a boring fight, but he should win easily.

They have some pre-fight shows on HBO that follows them around training, it's pretty good.

As much as I dislike Mayweather, I don't think he will lose. I think it will be very similar to the Dehoya fight with Floyd doing just enough with his speed/accuracy to make his opponent look bad.

Klitschko (49-3) vs Ibragimov (22-0-1) is the next big heavyweight fight. it's finally a unification fight for Klitschko so it could prove to be good. it's scheduled for Feb. 23rd

Basically the heavyweight division is lacking a big name. For a while it looked like the brothers Klitschko were going to be special, and I was personally excited about Samuel Peter. However, mehhhh, the heavyweights aren't too great at the moment.

I saw the Hatton/Urango fight in Vegas last January. Hatton's fans are great - on par with soccer hooligans. It was infectious. I'm pulling for Hatton hard but I agree with the thought that if the fight goes past 6 rounds Mayweather will win in decision.

Should be a good series of fights tonight. The undercard has a very good chance of being far better than the main event in this one. Daniel Ponce de Leon is a wild man and has someone who will likely try to stand in and trade with him which always makes for excitement while it lasts. It should be interesting to see how Jeff Lacy comes out as well against a name opponent even if it is just Peter Manfredo from the Contender. Lacy is coming off of a serious left shoulder injury and without his left hook he's just a shadow of himself.

Then there is the main event. I've always disliked Floyd Mayweather, primarily because he likes to do a lot of talking and then run and pot shot people to make a long boring fight that he wins by decision. I said a couple of years ago that Hatton was one of the few people I'd give a shot at beating him, but that was when they were both undefeated at 140. I don't think Hatton is big enough at this weight class to do enough damage in the early rounds to slow Mayweather down to make it interesting down the stretch. That said, most of the punches De la Hoya landed against Mayweather were when he was able to get inside on him against the ropes. That's a specialty of Hatton's as he's as much a brawler as a boxer. If he can rough Mayweather up some in the early rounds and turn it into a fight, then it could be very interesting.

Why did Manfredo move up to 168? He's only 5-9.

Most Hooters locations will have it televised. I know the one on Wake Forest Rd has it for sure.

According to a friend, Chubby's in Cary will also carry it.

Go Floyd.

I have been a Hatton fan since I saw him win against Kostya Tszyu. I have been very disappointed with the prefight packages and how little they have shown of Hatton's career, because it gives a poor impression. Of his last three fights, he clearly did not look good in two, but the most recent against Jose Luis Castillo, he blew him up. And remember, this is the same Castillo that did a number on Mayweather and really roughed him up in the middle rounds, leading to two decision wins. De La Hoya was slower than Mayweather, as is Hatton, but the difference is that Hatton actually has significant power, and he has a monster chin.

If you saw some of the recent Hatton fights, he has gotten tagged with some shots and still kept bulldozing ahead, and these were better punchers than Mayweater. Mayweather has never been a power puncher, he just wins through repeated beatings and his pure speed. I don't think Hatton will be able to catch him and score a knockout, and it's unlikely that Mayweather will knock out Hatton, either. The edge for Hatton comes if he can win enough of the early rounds that Mayweather feels the need to stand toe to toe in the last half of the fight. If Mayweather gets up early, look for another De La Hoya fight where Mayweather runs around the whole time, but wins by a decision.

Remember, De La Hoya tried to go to the body on Mayweather, but his punches were very weak and didn't do any damage. Hatton's body shots are rock solid. If you saw how he dropped Castillo in the 4th with a perfect liver shot just below the point of his elbow, you saw how effective going to the body can be with a talented fighter.

in the De La Hoya fight, he was throwing a shitload of punches, but very few actually hit mayweather. His defense and speed is just fucking ridiculous.

Should be a great fight.

No it wasn't. That was a washed up Castillo that was trying to get one more big money fight before he retired. Yeah he did get tagged pretty hard, but come on. You really think the Castillo that fought Corrales would have taken a knee and gotten counted out? Plus, the fight before he needed a bullshit split decision victory to get past some guy named Herman Ngoudjo. Don't get me wrong, Hatton looked impressive. But, you can't put too much stock in that win.

Both De La Hoya and Mayweather are said to be bigger punchers than Hatton.

He dropped a previously unbeaten Diego Corrales 5 times in 10 rounds. It takes some power to do that. I know at least one of the knockdowns occurred at the very beginning of a round with one single over hand left.
