ive been trying for a week now to get xp pro installed on a dell PE 1955 blade (we're trying to get rid of all the desktop systems still around in our datacenter and consolidate them to blades)

finally, tonight: GREAT SUCCESS

it was the damn SAS driver

it took some mad skillz and work

but it worksssssss

and for those of you who have no clue what i'm talking about, or think that this would not be difficult

a) dell does not support running xp on blades nor any poweredge server, in fact, the engineer that i was talking to about it laughed and said it wasn't possible
b) there were no xp drivers at all for any device in this system
c) LSI does not make a SAS driver that works with windows xp for this controller
d) all of my coworkers (with the exception of my manager who was the one that wanted me to do this in the first place) said it was impossible

I've got a PE server and it took me a while to find the drivers for XP. It was such a pain, it's still running the XP installation from back in 2004 I only use it for a file backup though, so it hasn't had the opportunity to get gunked up
