of pain medications?

Just got prescribed this due to a chipped wisdom tooth with a big cavity. Initially prescibed Vicoden. Vicoden didnt help the pain unless i took alot of aspirin with it. Quite a nice mood altering drug though

Darvocet is much lower on the "cool painkiller" list than Vidcoden...I don't think it's even a controlled drug.

Whatever works though.

you have to take a lot of it - if my memory serves me correctly, you can take a high dose because it doesn't have acitomenophen in it.

you can't take a high dose because it does have acetaminophen in it

fixed that for ya terp

[Edited on December 3, 2007 at 4:41 PM. Reason : but 2 grams or less of apap isn't gonna hurt you]

I have a herniated disc in my back so I've had pretty much all the pain meds. I can request the ones I prefer. I'd say darvocet is just a bit more in my preference than percocet, with vicodin falling under percocet and Tylenol w/codeine coming in last.

Darvocet ftmfw

generally vicoden is my preference, had to take it plenty when i seperated my shoulder. but the dosage they gave me for this initially wasnt high enough.

one crazy one is the flexoril i got when i wrecked my motorcycle. not a pain killer but two will put you out.

what? you people are dumb. Darvocet is weak sauce. Its a schedule 4 drug, Vicdoin is schedule 3, Percocet is schedule 2.

darvocet (propoxyphene) has been proven to be no more effective than tylenol. I'm surprised the dentist prescribed you darvocet after you said vicodin doesn't help.

you can't go by the schedule to determine pain-killing effect. Vicodin works about the same as percocet.

just because the drug has a high analgesic index doesn't mean it would be euphoric. 3-methylfentanyl was made popular in the eighties because it was easy to make and very potent, but it was widely reported to not be as euphoric or long lasting as either fentanyl or morphine.

When I was at Rex for 5 days I was on a dilaudid injection schedule every 4 hours and I mean every 4 hours. When I came out of there I had to be weened off through percocet.

toradol

might as well throw out other random painkillers

fentanyl is ok

esp for neuro patients since it has a short half life

its not so ok for long term pain management because of said half life (unless its a duragesic patch)

darvocet does nothing for me. the only pills that really clear my pain are percocet and plain oxycodones. i'm on a steady diet of 50 percocets a week. ultram helps a little too, but i have to take a lot.

dilaudid is really nice. i've had it in a pca during all of my hospital stays along with morphine injections.
