the only places that will hire you as an EMT-B are transport companies (Tri-Star, JAS, NSMT, etc.), and even then, you'll need to volunteer at a rescue squad for 6 months or so, as you most likely won't get a job without experience.

that work is boring as shit, you spend your days transporting old people to nursing homes, the hospital, their doctors appointments, etc.

we only have one basic on our part time staff at cary, and that's only because of a special reason. to get hired by any actual emergency/rescue squad, you're gonna at least need to be an intermediate. to even TAKE an intermediate class, you have to have a minimum of 1 year experience at the EMT-B level, and the class takes about 6 months.

there's a reason not just everybody does EMS.

I work outside of greenville...and lets be honest evan...every squad has its own share of shitty medics, its just like any other profession in the respect.

well, yeah, this is true... except for cary, of course. to work for cary, it's a requirement that you're awesome.

i just say that because my sister got picked up by a greenville squad and she got the most horrible care i've ever seen/heard about in my life.

also i'm talking about the actual city of greenville medics, not the squads outside of the city. it's the same kind of deal here - the medics that work for wake county EMS almost all suck because they hate their jobs. the medics that work for the individual squads (cary, six forks, garner, etc.) are almost all awesome as hell.
