the man was hosting the show since before most of the people on this board were born... by the time any of us were aware enough to know who he was he'd had a decade to get his timing down...

hosting an hour long program in front of a live audience with little backup isn't easy, there's a comfortableness that Carey just isn't going to have for a while, when he starts to settle in you'll see the show get a lot better... assuming it doesn't get pulled before then

Drew just can't carry the role of TPIR host. If they gave him a new show it would probably work out ok. He has big shoes to fill and an overweight nerdy guy just can't command the mic the way Bob Barker did. Barker knew how to handle business. He gave the show its flow. You could totally see him smacking someone around backstage after the show for taking too long in picking the price of a car and you could totally see him being Hugh Hefner to all TPIR models. Drew just doesn't have that authority. I bet all the models spit on him and laugh after each show is over.

american idol. ryan seacrest is totally useless on the show. the judges can host it themselves. ryan seacrest just wants to get his idiotic self on TV as much as possible.

He's not too bad. The editors unfortunately have him saying the same phrases over and over again in all of the episodes which gets really annoying.
