different workgroup.

I'm on a domain, the computer I want to share a drive cannot join the domain, but I want to access that drive. Is this possible? Both computers are on the same subnet.

aww come on man, an ex-e115 instructor should know this one haha j/k

have you tried to do this yet? i've never had a mixed environment like that, but i think it would be possible. hell i know you can do it the other way around (with the right credentials), so what you're proposing shouldn't be a problem.

hahah I guess ^ knows who I really am.

e115 was all linux and you didn't have this hybrid type environment.

I was just hoping I can browse to the computer... but alas... I can't... and really don't want to figure out how myself.

That's what TWW is for

oh ok so you did try, and it didn't work?
you'll need to share the folder and/or enable simple file sharing, and you should be able to find it on the network by computer name i think. in the end though it sounds like mapping a network drive on one of the pcs will be the easiest way.

here read this cause i'm too lazy to

LOL. I think I still have that... j/k.

I made you read out your SSN? Don't recall much.

I actually failed a guy. He was also my resident in Lee Hall (I was an RA). The day of the final (Thursday of dead week) he told me he had a fraternity event... I told him I'd fail him if he didn't show.

He didn't show.

enable file sharing on the target PC (right click the folder, click the Sharing tab)

then go to start > run on the PC you want to browse the target pc on

type "\\computername" where computername is the netbios name of the computer, or you can use the IP

voila

I remember getting flustered because some people just would not get the concept of a tree.

No matter how plainly I put it.
