I fucking hate it still.

Employee self-service? Yeah, it works.

Student self-service? Yeah, right.

that's because oracle was MADE for employee self-service

not student self-service

that was just an afterthought

what was wrong with packtracks? everyone knew how to use it and it worked pretty flawlessly in my experience.

Well, since they took away packtracks, and gave us this faggotry, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to work

the whole nc state website sucks too. luckily you can create your own shortcut menu, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to find shit.

From what I understand, Pack Tracks was a homegrown system. They wanted to kill it because, in general, homegrown systems are difficult to support, difficult to upgrade, and God forbid your developers leave, what then? Since we were already using a Peoplesoft portal for Employee self-service, putting the student stuff there made sense.

I do agree, however, that it looks like crap and is hard to find anything in. The UI of Pack Tracks was nicer.

I know people who work on campus and they've told me how much they loathe Peoplesoft and trying to interface with it.

THANK YOU! I'm so glad this thread is saying what I've been thinking.

Oh not to mention, the new job search/career center thing... I mean I know it's the same system basically, but DARN!!! the old one was WAYYYY more visually appealing and just more functional.

What the heck NC State, what the heck.

nc state computer systems always seemed hard to use and not quite perfected, like they were trying to depend on them before they got them working properly. webassign's early days were awful. I don't know about now.

I've always thought out website was a piece of shit, and TRACS/PackTracks was its only redeeming feature. Now we have a superficial redesign of the main page and a shitty replacement to the old registration system.

just think though, if you're drink enough, you can be happy if you pass and not give a fuck if you failed(at least until you wake up and take a look again).
