so i fucked up and had a lapse in insurance of a day earlier this year. i got pulled for it, got a ticket and scheduled a phone hearing. The call came in today and i had it in my head that it was on monday (again, i know i fucked up). So i wasn't anywhere near my house and didn't have any paperwork on me and the lady insisted that i could not reschedule. i had to cancel the hearing and now i lose my tags for 30 days. the question i have is will they let me get a 30 day temporary tag? 12/14/2007 2:33:43 PM |

nope, no tag for you.
This happened to me in 2004. I drove around for about 10 days with a piece of cardboard on the back of my car that said "tag stolen" but I just kept feeling paranoaid. So I bought a $500 car, insured it, tagged it, etc. and thought to myself :I'll drive it for a month and sell it". Then I realized, I like this cheap bucket...and drove it for 2-1/2 years. I just put the suspended car back on the road this year. 12/14/2007 2:43:09 PM |

they are not supposed to take your tags for lapses of 24hours or less. because if you have insurance on lets say the 20th, cancel and pick up another insurance company on the same day, that will show a lapse of one day.
get a FS1 from your insurance company and fax it to the dmv 12/17/2007 7:50:54 AM |
