the clutch return/release spring broke yesterday. its a V-shaped spring that gives resistance to the clutch pedal and makes it pop back up into place when you let your foot off. the clutch still works, but its spongy now and has like 1" of free play at the top.
1) Can i damage my clutch by driving around like this for a few days? The dealership has to order the part and it won't be in until friday. It doesn't seem like the clutch is disengaged while i'm driving so i think i'm OK here.
2) Is there not anywhere I can go and just get some generic spring? It doesn't seem like a specialty part, i mean its just a damn spring. Where (if anywhere) could i find something like this? 12/16/2007 12:02:11 PM |

I took it off one of the cars I used to have... well, actually, it was off when I got it. The weight of the pedal isn't going to be enough to disengage the clutch and cause any slipping so I highly doubt it'll be an issue. 12/16/2007 12:12:05 PM |
