Can someone tell me why this is outlawed? I understand horse collaring a QB in the backfield and why that's illegal, just like looking at a QB the wrong way is a 15 yard penalty because QB's sell tickets, but anyone who crosses the line of scrimmage with the football should be fair game, it's not even that vicious, I realize legs and ankles get tangled up, but there are so many other tackles and hits much more dangerous and when you're past the LOS, it should be fair game to do this. Does anyone actually think Roy Williams is a dirty player, I don't

I'm not a fan of the slide rule.

If you run and don't want to get hit you need to find a sideline.

Wrong

Its easy as hell to break someone's leg. If you're running and you have your feet planted, then someone suddenly tugs you straight down, your feet (especially with cleats) are locked into the ground, and don't move enough to counter the sudden reversal of direction.

See, here TO's left leg is still planted into the ground even though his body is being lurched backwards, resulting in his fibula breaking due to too much pressure.

not to mention a 200+lb man falling directly onto the same point at the bottom of the legs

No he is not. He actually is a more decent guy than you think. And he really can't cover. Thing is somehow he has made a bad habit of tackling this way and cannot stop.

It's not hard to stop tackling that way.

when you have a type of illegal tackle named after you, you might have a problem

^^nope. especially considering the tackle on mcnabb could've been made if he had dived at his feet and tripped him up. he wasn't that far from him.

horse collar tackles are banned to prevent season ending injuries that were very common with this kind of tackle. these sort of injuries also threaten the players career as well.

Wade Phillips' comments on this are stupid, but I take them as coach speak standing up for his guy.

I can really see the same thing that happened to Theismann's leg happening on one of these tackles.
